Don,
The no line progressive lenses are for the varying prescription that your eye doctor is giving you to correct yourvision for near, (medium) and far vision.
The gradient refers to the tint to clear only. Sort of a fade like the "Memphis Shade".

I have had to wear glasses mostly for reading for 15 years... I tried contacts but as was mentioned by Dakota, they didn't work for me either...a little wind and my eyes started watering..had to pull over quick to get them out. Finally tossed them. I have worn an avaiator style, trifocal progressive (no lines) for years. They also darken pretty well outside and turn clear inside. When the sun is low and there is a lot of glare, I use wrap around sunglasses with the stick on bifocals so I can see the gauges. They are at : http://www.optyx2020.com. They work really well for me and are cheaper than prescription panoptyx. Just my 2 cents.. good luck

Hello twolane. They say that eyesight's the first to go. I'm wondering what's second? [smiley=nixweiss.gif] Anyway, I've had to add glasses to my personal attire (bi - focals w/ no line) and have found them an inconvenience. I've also got two pairs, Ray bans for days and wire rims for nights. My biggest complaints are 1) accepting the fact that I need them, 2) constantly keeping them clean, 3) fogging up during temp. changes and 4) RAIN sucks. Never had issues with bugs because of the fairing. [smiley=mask.gif]

Twolane, this subject is near and not dear to my 47 yr. old eyes.  I need to get mine checked [smiley=furious.gif]
I met an optomoligist at a bike show/swap meet that sells Flyin Pig eye ware.  I remember him saying that he does bifocals.  The package included day and nite lenses.  I don't have the info handy but could get it if you might be interested.  I was with a freind who was interested, that is why I checked them out.  He is located in the York, Pa area I believe.

Your numbers 3 and 4 are the things I've thought abou most currently.  Used to the glasses I generally ride with that fit and seal pretty well.  So the low pressure area right behind the lenses sucking water back in my eyes hasn't been a problem.  But the shop the new glasses are coming from only had normal people's glasses.  Nothing that would be any good on the road.  And I've never really been a big fan of big honking goggles (that might go over regular glasses).  So it seems there is some homework to be done.  Thanks to what so many have told here so far, however, the homework has become much much simpler.

I also have the optic neuritis, glaucoma, and now catarics.  I've tried everything over the years......goggles over prescription glasses, etc.  Everything is a hassle.  The best thing I've ended up using are RayBan sunglasses with my bi-focal prescription in both the polaroid sunglasses and clear pair for night riding.  The beauty of the new tight fitting wrap around style is that you can match a pair to your face that keep almost all the wind out so that your eyes don't tear and subsequently dry out.  Believe me, it was a great relief to finally find  a convenient/workable solution to my eye problem.  Hope this helps those of you w/ too many years and abuse on your "peepers".

No stores....we are wholesale only. You can find our line at Tampa HD, Gulf Coast HD in
N.Port Richey, Fletchers HD in Clearwater, or Jims HD in St. Pete.

If you email the 'numbers' on your Rx to me or fax a copy of it, I will have our optician
make a frame recommendation.

Attached is a pic of our 'Jammer' padded riding glass. The cost on the frame is $20.
and single vision polycarbonate tinted lenses are $110. It is excellent and made of
a very durable nylon composite.

For anyone interested in the 'stick on' bifocals check out -  optyx2020.com...

I too have bi-focals. my local CVS pharmacy sells sun glasses that fit right over my glasses. They wrap around on the sides so it looks like I'm wearing a large pair of sunglasses (not gogles) and I get no tearing. $23.00

Twolanerider,

Just got back today, have been in Phoenix, great weather.

Have not scanned the rest of the posts to see if you have already been helped out

I use Sun Glasses made by Bolle. they have a docking system. Where the docking system is a clear prescription lens that snaps into the middle bridge of the frame. You get three sets of interchangeable lenses and the docking lens which you can have your doctor grind the prescription you need.

Have been using this system for the last three years for riding and for skiing. I purchased my set off of Ebay, search for Bolle.

Also have a pair of Eye Ride Max Extreme Googles the RX pair were $74.99 in 2002. Search their website www.eyeride.com/rx.asp

Hope this helps.
