Ask Hoist,

When leaving to go to Hot Springs I told him if he got within 500 miles of North Carolina and had a problem I would come and get him.
Unfortunately it grenaded long before that!

That's why I posted using his own quotes how crazy (my words) it would be to try and ride that grenade with Binx on the back to Maggie Valley.  Your right, we need to look out for each other.

Agreed man.  He's just not sure of the bike right now.  Binx is way to precious a cargo to head out with when you don't feel right about the ride.

Sorry to hear of the frustration, hope you get it all squared away quickly.  I heard that AAA has a good motorcycle roadside package you can add on to your automobile policy.  Anyone else use them?

Someone should re-title this thread "Days of our Lives"
of if Hoist takes it to the next level "General Hospital"

I hope the rant was as therapeutic for the author as it was enlightening, and in a dark way amusing from this end.

Glad the tire problem is resolved  on your Honda-Davidson

There's a limit of $100 on the yearly tow, so HD would have charged Howie $150 dollars anyways which still would suck!

Speaking of Customer Service and Japanese manufactures:

I just received a Toyota issued recall for 2007 Rubber floor mats!  They can get caught under the accelerator pedal.

Howie's posts were pretty hysterical to read, I thought.  And having met Howie, I could hear his voice as I was reading his words . . . it was almost as if he were here talking to me, which made it even funnier to me.  From the phone call with the lady at HOG, to the dork from the dealership showing up when he wasn't needed, to the picture in my mind of Q running 40 miles back to where Howie was with a tire strapped to the SERK, it was really a good, typical Howie-style read.

BUT, while I did get a laugh out of the post(s), the way that he was treated by HOG, Harley-Davidson, and the dealer that wanted to charge him $250 for the tow, is abominable. >:(  I will remember this experience when it comes time to renew my HOG membership next year and will have to think long and hard about signing up again.  It also makes me think twice about traveling alone on my bike, knowing the "I don't give a d@mn" attitude that is out there with some dealers.  Yes, there are some that are are just the opposite and very wiling to help, but my luck is more like Howie's where I would break down near the "IDGaD" dealers.  Lucky for Howie, he had Q to keep him company and chase tires, but what if he'd have been alone?

It's really disappointing to hear a story like this of the support network that exists for our bikes.  Basically, according to the lady he spoke with at HOG, there's isn't one, in case you've already bothered them once this year. :confused5:

I just can't see Howie on a Gold Wing. He'd have to quit cursing and shave his goatee. AND start wearing white shirts. It ain't gonna happen. If it does, he ain't my brother no mo.

Be careful about the white shirts. I wear them every day!

The original post begs the question:  What happened to the tire?  New tires don't get 4 holes in their sidewalls for no reason.  Was this a Dunlop or Michelin?  Has this been pursued any further yet?  Did you keep the old tire?
