Couldn't tell if the front fender was trashed. If it is you might look at a custom fender, like the ones Klock Werks has, there are no rivets and it is lowered about an inch. I like the look of the lowered front fender, plus it's cleaner without the rivets.

If I go the custom paint route, the front fender will probably get fixed and at the least, grind off the rivets to smooth it a bit. Those rivets are really ugly.

Chief-

I am sad for your accident but extremely glad your writing to tell us about it.

My vote is to keep it stock paint, mainly for when you go to sell it.  If you are planning on keeping for a long time, paint it any way you want.

Whatever you decide, we will be happy for you.

Oh, the possibilities. Either way I go, there is a lot of waiting. We've got a great custom painter here, Terry Southern, and he's alrady getting booked up with builders wanting to get their Daytona creations ready for next year's bike week. It would probably be faster to go with stock parts.

I dunno. Maybe chatting it out this w/e in Blairsville will help.

Ok, I say paint it.  Then you'll have a real custom bike instead of a factory cookie cutter.   :multi:

Chief,

I've been thinking about your situation. You said you didn't have a scratch. I feel you'd fair better with Mahota if you were scraped up a little. Maybe a little road rash on the elbows, scratches on the knuckles,  or a slight limp. If you're interested, I've got some ideas.

First, and above all else, Chuck, we're VERY relieved and glad that YOU are unscathed.  You are taking this very well; much better than I would.  I'd be freaked out for sure.  Anyway.....thank God you're OK.

If I was in your shoes, I'd turn that scooter into something no one else has.  Being different is good.  You're conversation leads me to believe you won't be keeping your machine forever, so perhaps returning it to stock will keep the book value up...........but there is something to be said for custom work.  Come sales time, if you're patient, you'll get your asking price.  I think a custom job would be much more attractive to a potential buyer.  Perhaps you can keep the Jester theme, but invert the red/black colors or change the color to the blue you want as opposed to the stock Smurf.  Personally, I'd paint it black with silver sparkle.......maybe some ghosted tribals......plenty to do, but I'd make it one of a kind......just to be different.

Again, Renea and I are thankful for your safety, and we look forward to meeting you on Friday.

Remember the guy who had $50k invested in a custom RK? Didn't he sell it for $20k?

Chief,

Glad to hear you are AOK after the mishap.   As for the paint scheme, if you are keeping it until 2015, do what you want.  You'll be on the 5th or 6th engine by then with all of our "110 issues", so the least concern will be the paint.

Seriously, if I was going to keep it that long, I would get the paint job I wanted (sounds like you want to be creative by reading between the lines) and design something you will feel proud of at the end of the day.

Main thing you're ok. Judy ordered the red 02 serk. Well in a short time they announced there would be no more red ones only purple ones, Shes not a purple person but she loved the bike otherwise, so she bought the purple one. She also bought new primed sheet metal & had a custom paint job done, she turned it into her bike. It still turns heads everywhere we go. As far as the value of the bike, who knows. She bought the bike to ride & enjoy & 5 1/2 yrs. later she still loves it. I have the same bike, same color as you & I love it.It just depends on what you want. IF you ever wanted to change paint there will never be a better time. IMO. Linny

Chief,
Tough decesion, but your bike is yours and you make it yours. I dont know what I would do, that custom job on the link looks kick @ss.  Glad to see you got up and walked away.  You could always go with the  :bananarock: paint scheme!
