Well, I guess it's all settled now. I'm going custom paint. I'll be keeping the CVO color palate and going with a design more inline with what I think a bike of this calibre should have.

I've picked Platinum Custom Painting www.platinumatl.com to do the painting. They have painted some stuff for Hank Young, or local Biker Build Off winner, so I feel I'm in good hands. They have a good artist / airbrush painter on staff to help with finalizing the design. This is all new territory for me so I'm sure I'll be learning as I go.

Thanks for everyone's input on this. I hope I'm right on this one.

What are they giving your a time frame?  And are they working from new tins so you can keep riding as is in the interim?

Chief,
Here's wishing you the best paint job this shop has ever done.  :2vrolijk_21:

Keep us posted on the progress as it develops.

B B,

Thanks. I know I'll be like a kid the night before Christmas when we get rolling. I'll try not to bore everyone to tears with updates.

We're looking at about 4 weeks once we get them the tins. They get busy this time of year with everyone doing their winter mods, wanting to be ready for Bike Week.

The bike will be down since they are doing the existing fenders, right saddlebag and side covers. With the holidays right around the corner and no GTGs coming up, I'll be OK. This will actually give me more time to get the stair rails done since I won't be working on the bike.

Any time you follow your heart  :love_1: , you are right!  It is all for you, not for us.

If you love it when it is done, we will love it right along with you.

If you were to choose the worst paint scheme in the world, if you love it, we will be right behind you doing the chicken eating corn dance with our heads, patting you on the back and say we love it right along with you.

It is your bike, to do with as you wish.  When you asked the question, your heart was already telling you the answer, Right?   :nixweiss:

Congratulations on the decision.   I guarantee you never regret it.  You've already had it stock.  I can't wait to see photos.  You may just generate more interest in doing the same.    :cherry:

Chuck,
Congrats on the decision.  The big thing with all of this is as long as you are happy with your decision.  It really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.   We'll be anxiously awaiting pics of your "new" ride when it's done.
Cheers :2vrolijk_21:,

EEEK!  :o :o

First, great to hear you are OK!  :drink:

Paint?  I wouldn't hesitate - go for custom.  I wouldn't go for flames, skulls, or anything over fancy - just pick your favourite two colours in the world and have a gorgeous scheme done with them.  Everybody and his brother has an 07 CVO with one of the three colours, and being so common, they don't get a second glance.  This is your chance to have the unique bike that everybody stops, stares at, and admirees.....

Well, the insurance claim deflater comes in a couple of hours to see how much he can remove from the estimate. Once that's all settled, the bike gets over to the painter for a photo shoot and then it's time for the artist to start sketching. I don't know if they'll be Chip Foose style color renditions or not, but having artists sketches as artifacts will be pretty cool.

Well, I'll be danged. The claims adjuster just left and had no problem with the claim. I thought I'd have to fight for everything.

Now we can get started.

Thanks Cheri. I guess that means the Clay's Possum Drop bumper sticker will have to disappear.

Great news there, Chuck.  I know you're quite stoked.  I would be too, BUT there is no way in hell I'd want to get to the point you're at by going through what you did.  You're a blessed man.  Enjoy the fun.  You've earned it........and don't forget about your engine!   :P

Outstanding news Chuck...now the fun begins. ;)  Hope you're going to scan in the drawings if you can so we can see what you're going with...that'd be too cool.   I am happy that you're going to get to work with the artist on the painting...that'll be fun.
