It'll be interesting to see the outcome. Can I wait until I see the finished product to vote YaY or Nay?

I have absolutely NO artistic ways about me. I know if I like it after I see it.

Sure ya can. I wasn't going to post anything because there is such a difference between an inked sketch and actual paintwork that it's hard to get a good idea what it will actually look like just from the B&W drawings.

I'm sure there will be people on both sides of the fence when we're all done. If I don't like it, I can always sell off the painted parts and put it back to the way it was.

But then if I get creative, there is usually a fire or explosion involved.....

Chuck,
Can't wait to see the finished product and in color.  The design, from what I can tell from the drawings, looks really sweet. ;)  I think you've got a winner.

Thanks Charlie. I hope we're both right. I've never done this before, so there is a bit of anxiety. I'll have a better idea when they start laying down color.

It's too bad he can't do a computer rendering like the boys at Orange County can do.  Then you'd get a general idea of what the whole bike would look like and in the colors that you've chosen.    I'm sure that these guys will do right by you and everything will turn out great.

Chuck;
just finished reading through this thread, Glad you ok!

As far as the paint goes if you want to go custom  and you have the means to do so I would order the new paint and leave it boxed up for a later time. Then pick up some used tins and have them done just the way you want to. This way you can keep the originals for resale later. Best of both worlds.

i am late on this thread, but i like the decision you made to go custom. I did what Jim suggested and agree that its the best of both worlds (assuming you want to spend the money). I am a custom paint guy, so to me it was never really a choice. We all spend time making our bikes custom with chrome and other after market pieces, yet the paint is the single most custom element of a bike. It will make it truly unique. If you keep the original tins, then as Jim says, you can always put them back on if you sell the bike. I would think that having the original paint would allow you to sell it to the broadest group possible.  For me, resell is not an issue since i hold onto bikes for a very long time.  It does remind me though of all the times that people i know have kept original stuff thinking it was worth something only to find out that 10 years later, no one cares!!

Anyway, good luck and i hope it comes out the way you envision it

It is going to look Fantastic!  Love the concepts.  Can't wait to see it in person when it is all done.

Free,

Thanks. I'm looking forward to getting it all wrapped up soon. I think the end result will really be something great. Only one set of tins here. I'm going for broke on this one.

Thanks Candy. I'm sure seeing it in person will tell a whole different story than what we can see in the sketches.

Drawings look cool! The wrap around from the side panels all the way around the back for the bags will really set it off. I can't wait to see some pictures after your done!

The tank. This is the drawing that has received the most attention and what hooked us on this design in the beginning.

Chief, I like the style!!!!!!!!! Good JOB!!!!

BTW, think about having them re-install the CVO tank emblem........

rmarion,

Thanks. BTW, the 07 emblems are being used. They're not the greatest emblems, but that's what it came with, so they're going back on.

Here are two phone shots that will totally screw up everything. First comes the gold base, then graphics, then red candy in the appropriate palces, multiple coats to get the proper shading. The graphics aren't done yet, but it's starting to take shape. I'm sure when the candy starts going on in the appropriate places, the whole character will change drastically. Right now, I see a gold bike, but this one is gonna be red.

These pictures suck being taken inside under the flourescents.
