First of all, I'm dealing with the same HOT seat problem.   As a test, I turned the seat on with the engine off and the ignition on ACC.  I monitored the voltage at 12v; the seat worked fine, not too hot.  However, when running, the voltage is close to 14v and the seat is way too hot. I suspect it's just bad engineering and we have to live with it or change to another seat.  The regulation is either poor or doesn't exist.

Second, Corbin CAN do a duel switch seat.  My buddy has one.  At first they said no, but he said it wasn't acceptable, so they put a second switch in.

Hate to sound ignorant (but can't help my self! ;D ), but can't a reostat be used on the power wiring going to the seat. If you reduce the voltage, you'll lower the wattage output. Will that work on these seats? You can then have something adjustable for maximum heat output for different seasons. Not suggesting this yet, just asking. ;)

I have never come across this before; has anyone had any issues with the 08 heated seats?  Mine puts out extreme heat. I can have it one low and within 5 minutes I have to turn it off as it is "burning".  :-X I was up in Ohio a couple weeks ago and went for a ride in 30 degree weather.........thought the heated seats would be a nice addition, only to have to turn it off to keep from leaving marks.  I can only run it for a minute or 2 then turn it off and raise my butt off the seat to cool it down.......I have been told I have one hot looking A$$ ;D...........LOL  but this is just uncomfortable.........anything thoughts?  I am too afraid to try "high"........lord only know what I can do on that setting; maybe cook an egg or a couple small eggs  ;)

maybe your seat mad for Alaska ;D

Now that's just too cool.........not literally, of course..........and some great news.  Do you have specifics?  Who'd he speak with?  Price?  Thanks so much for the info.   :2vrolijk_21:

You shouldn't have a problem calling them, just tell them you have a friend that had his seat done w/double switches.  I don't know what they charged, but it was probably minimal since he already had the one switch system.  His was the first one they did (several months ago); I'm sure they've done others since.  They removed the large single heating pad, replaced it with two single seat pads.  They drilled a new switch mount hole on the opposite side and wired it up.  He ended with a switch on both sides.  Works great.

Their website is all jacked up right now.  Just shopping around.  Looks like they've lowered the price to $700 for the heated seat.  Wonder how much more they want to put two elements and switches on a seat?  Would also like to see if the rider's backrest comes with it, or does it cost extra?  Good price though, especially since it was much more expensive this time last year.............which is why I'm wondering if the backrest tacks on the $300 that's no longer part of last year's price.   :nixweiss: :nixweiss:  Everytime I try to look at the accessories page, it takes me back to the home page.  Gonna give 'em a call in the morning.

No Henry...they lowered the prices a couple of months ago.  That price is just the seat...backrest is extra, and always was.

thanks for all the information; I have a service next Wednesday and will have them take a look at it........it might be a mute point for me now as I am back down in VA. and it really doesn't get cold here.......11.8 month riding season......

Did you get your seat checked out yet?  If so what did they find?

I had mine checked yesterday.  Since the shop manuals haven't been released yet (even to the dealers), they called the MotorCo and ran some electrical tests.  The first test was voltage at the harness plug which was 12v with the engine off and 13.8v with the engine running (exactly what you'd expect).  Second was a current check at the PTT fuse on the fuse block.  The spec is 1.5-3amps, front seat on high, mine read 1.88; the rear seat is .75-1.5amps on high, mine read 1.18.  So the MotorCo said "warranty denied"; when it gets too hot, turn it off.  They also said that it shouldn't get over 120 degrees.  Have you ever put your hand under the hot water in your sink?  Burns real quick doesn't it; mine's set at 122.  Oh well!

So how do they expect you to check if the temp regulator is working or not...stick a thermal sensor up your ass and run it to a digital readout?  ;)  That would be a pretty picture.

Something I read somewhere said these things don't get over 105-110.

Terry,

You may have just come up with another use for the LED dipstick!  Who wants to be the first to test this for us?

Ouch, Jerry...that thing is square and has sharp edges, buddy.  Plus, you'd have to lift your ass off the seat and let the BSR read the temp, but very quickly.

Oh, the vision...

I've got it!!  The air temp/rain gauge!! Upper range is close enough, but I don't think the sensor would be very comfortable... ;)

My heated seat is not working either.  I had never tried it until last week.  The SM at my dealer said he could determine whether it was wiring or seat problem pretty quickly. I can't ride for a while so no big deal yet.

Warren...did you try it with the accesory switch on the dash "on"...a lot of these have been hooked up to the wrong pigtail under the seat.  If so, the acc switch has to be on.  There are two pigtails just in front of the battery, in the "black hole"...hook it up to the other one if it only works with the acc switch on...it's not suposed to be on that circuit.  Worth a try...

Right, just shut it off it gets to hot.  Why bother fixing the problem so it works right, that would be too difficult.  ::)
