They only give you two free samples :drink: :drink: in the ratskellar....I tried to argue that I was owed two more since when I was there last I was only 13...didn't happen...

Thanks for your thoughts on the gold leaf pin striping.

I just returned from the dealer to see how they're coming along with the prep and made note to them of my dissatisfaction with this.  They pointed out the sticker note on the front fender which describes how there will be variations in the gold leaf which is natural to expect and that it is all done by hand and that there maybe some areas where it is over lapped... I'm still not happy and will request that they make note of this on my bill of sale.  Once I except delivery I'll post some photos for your perusal.

In the meantime, it would be helpful if someone could post a photo of the lid of their tour pack for me to have a look at.  Again the area of concern is on front edge of the indented area of the lid on the 105th Anniversary Copper & Black Ultras where the gold leaf pin striping comes together... It maybe difficult to see under the rack, but if taken at the right angle, I'm sure it will help me.  By the way, I opted to remove the tour pack rack (and put some chrome strips on to hide the holes, looks real cool) as my wife also rides an Ultra and we have lots of luggage room on trips without the need to clutter up the top of the tour packs.  In this case it unfortunately makes this error in quality paint stand out that much more... However, I don't believe it should be like this, regardless of their disclaimer sticker on the front fender.

Any help with your photos of your tour pack lids would be greatly appreciated and I will post my photos as soon as I get the bike, unless of course I have a chance to snap a photo prior to delivery.

Thanks again.

Take care & ride safe!

Fight the righteous fight, Bro.  The MOCO warranty also has language which says they are not responsible for cosmetic flaws found after delivery, but there are plenty of us here who have made them make good on faulty paint.  My point is, you haven't taken delivery yet.............so you still have a leg up on getting your paint the way it should have been before it left YORK.  Make them make good on it, or at the very least put in writing that they will make good on it, BEFORE you take delivery.  Try to get some pictures posted before you take delivery.  Call HD and start a case file.  Get hot on it now before you sign for it.  You'll be in much better shape than those of us who had to fight the paint battles of last year.

Every 08 SE 105th that I have seen so far is the same.  Overlaps at the front of box behind the seat back.  I think that it is a standard just like the terrible wrinkled leather boxes on the 07. My 06 was beautiful.  After living with that unacceptable 07 box for a year, I can live very easily with my decal overlap on the beautifully painted tourpak. Very pleased with overall finish.

I don't know the reason for the delay, I was just informed by my dealer that I must have received one of the last '08 SE's - #601 (for now), as he was informed that production had been suspended until Feb.

Possibly you should bounce this news off your dealer and see what they come up with for an answer.

Hopefully it is not true and you'll get yours soon.

Mr. Magoo,

Just thought I would let everyone know that I had good news from my dealer today... First off I should mention that although my Duracell #601 was ready to pick up yesterday, I decided to relax until this paint issue was dealt with.

The dealer took some pictures of the tour pack where the gold leaf overlapping (just behind the passenger backrest) was just NOT acceptable on a bike of this stature!  Although we found quite a number of joins in the gold leaf pin striping all over the bike. those joins were hardly noticeable... As a matter of fact you had to look real close just to see the joins and you could not feel them at all.  The join in the gold leaf on the TP was a whole other situation.  You could definitely feel that join and cold see it from at least 5-6' away without a problem. (Always remember the 3' rule).

Anyway, the dealer finally agreed with me that it was unacceptable, took photos and call for a MOCO rep for inspection.  He saw the bike today and had to agree with the dealer and would report back in the next few days.

My dealer is quite confident that the TP lid will be replaced.   ;D Great dealer I have!

You see, sometimes Goliath does listen to David... Keeping my fingers cross.

Oh, by the way, my dealer is delivering my new bike on Monday.  Hooray! :cucumber:

Thanks all for your advise and assistance.

Take care & ride safe,

Grizzly

PS - For those who haven't checked their tour packs, do yourself a favor and do so.
