Maybe something for Mobe's paint issues should be next?
Brian, can't tell you that some kind of familial response doesn't seem worthwhile whenever someone is getting hosed. And please understand I'm not trying to speak for Mobe and his feelings on his experience here; only to what it's seemed from the outside looking in.
In Mobe's case, however, the dealership has at least been making an effort. I understand that that particular shop is perfectly capable of fouling things up. Worse in times past then they are now. It happens to be my local shop too and I have been on foot specifically because of work that's come from there; three times.
In this case though it has seemed that the shop has been responding to the mistakes of others (in the bad paint pieces they've received new in the box). Admittedly at least once they dinged things themselves. But it has seemed in each case the dealership has made efforts to get something done and, pretty much, get something done in line with what Mobe wanted.
It's just that waiting for paint-to-match parts takes awhile. And when it happens over and over and over again it's got to seem like something just short of a lifetime. But speaking to the dealership and holding over their head further conversations with corporate isn't of much tactical value when the problem is actually with corporate quality control to begin with. And who at Harley Davidson do you hold over Harley Davidson's head? The poor part of the answer to that is that the answer should be be all of us. And that's what the answer is. The problem is that HD is just smug enough that we don't mean everything we should anymore.
