Stekat, I have the exact same experience with our bike, and we live within 10 miles of each other, so our weather is identical. Even yesterday, we went up to Ojai for breakfast. It was between 55-60 degrees on hwy 150. The temp on the engine was between 220-230 degrees. On the warmer days I have seen 260 degrees.
I also want to keep the bike stock and compliant with California EPA, and I want it quiet so we can enjoy the XM radio (which is great!). And I don't want a ticket for loud pipes when we go to Malibu and other places around LA.
I just installed the same Air Deflectors. That was an interesting installation. Especially the right side just behind the head - the clearance forced me to use a ball head hex and a small "L" shaped hex to tighten it down. I can't understand how HD expects you to use a torque wrench in those locations. I did manage to tighten the screws down, and with the lock washers it should be okay.
I like what you did with the fan and the Night Rider thing - I will check it out. I wonder if getting away with the SYN3 will help cool her down a bit as well. I just don't want to start playing around with pipes, SERTS, PC's and Dyno tunes. We spent enough money, enough is enough...
