According to another thread regarding the cover, HD is supposed to have the new ones ready by January 2008.  You'd think for 35K+ they'd give you a cover that fits properly.   ::)

You'd think somewhere along the line someone would actually have tried it to see if it fit during product development for the model.  That's embarrassing.  And stupid too.

I know, I know; talking about UMMMM and saying something like that is redundant.  Cut me some slack.  It's the holidays after all; dammit.

Is HD going to recall the covers that do not fit and replace them with the ones that do for all of us who own the 2008 models?????

They'll probably argue that it's really an accessory provision given for free with the bike purchase or some such.  Not a reliability or safety issue so NHTSA and that kind of "recall" doesn't apply.  Dollars to donuts; Harley will fudge the deal.

They'll probably say that only the rear end of the cover doesn't fit.  That its liner is loose.  But since both the front and back both aren't the problem, and since the rear of the cover doesn't have issues at the same time as its bottom end they only have replace the back end of it.

I wouldn't expect to see them do anything voluntarily. You will have better luck going to your dealer and requesting it there, raising a stink if necessary.

I was wondering the same thing about the CVO cover,  trying to fit the CVO cover that came with my 2008 FLHTCUSE3  over the bike properly was impossible, The cover was clearly made for the 2007 CVO with the leather tour pac. The cover was simply too small..  Sooo  I marched down to  the local HD dealer around sometime in Sept of 2007 and left the cover there.  I was told the gal looking after clothing would follow up on the cover.

I just about fell out of my car seat yesterday. I get a call from the HD stealer dealer clothing gal   saying they have a brand new CVO cover for my 2008 CVO bike!!
I pick it  up,, no charge and it fits!!!

Holy smoke.... :2vrolijk_21:

As a matter of fact, about two weeks age, I showed the service manager the poor fit and asked for a replacement.  As it turned out, the man responsible for warranty approval (don't know his title), was auditing the dealership that same day.  The SM asked him to look at the fit (or lack thereof).  He said "your right, it sure doesn't fit very well".  He said that a replacement "CVO" cover would be the same however.  I suggested that I didn't care about the logo on the front and could we try a touring model cover from the accessory book.  We tried one (Cotton indoor cover); it fit fine, all the way below the pipes.  He approved the replacement then and there!

It's unfortunate that the Motor Co is so skeptical of every claim that it must be proved before they will authorize.  they should trust the dealers assessment and honor it; it's only common sense and good customer relations.  Their profit margin is certainly high enough.  In my case, "seeing was believing" and with him standing there, he couldn't say "denied"!

Actually, the cover does not fit the leather tour paks either. It is too short at the back.

I think it is suposed to fit the SEEG's with the chopped tour paks....

Are we expecting too much?? :(

It's interesting you should say that.  After I saw this thread last night I went and got my cover for the 08, it is still in the plastic unopened just like the one for the 05 & 06.  The label on the bag says it's part# 91630-04.  The date is 09/13/07.  Wouldn't the '04' indicate it's an 04 part?  The other interesting thing is the bag has been opened.  I still haven't tried it on the bike yet.

Bob, what's the part number on the cover for your '05? :nixweiss:
