Bob, what's the part number on the cover for your '05? :nixweiss:

Brian, I'll have to pull it out of the bag to check it and let you know.  The 05 & 06 didn't come in a plastic bag with a part # like the 08.  I stuck my hand down in the cloth storage bag for the other two and found a Dowco tag attached to the cover for the 06 with a 3/--/06 date which makes sense since I took delivery on 4/15/06.  I couldn't feel a tag on the 05 cover so I'll pull it out and let you know what I find.

It might explain a lot if you find they're the same part number.  Not sure you want to break the seal on the plastic bags to find out, though. :nervous: :'( :o

The 05 & 06 aren't in plastic bags, just the cloth storage bags.  The 08 is in a plastic bag but someone at the dealership had broken the paper tag seal on it, so no biggie.

Hi Guys

Pulled out my cover as well and checked the part number. Its 91630-04 with a 08/23/07 date. So, do other owners have these same cover part numbers that do not fit??

TIA

When I saw that 04 number I thought this might be the cover for the FLHTCSE and when I checked that P/N on Chicago H-D website it confirmed it.

91630-04      CYCLE COVER, FLHTCSE   Retail Price:$199.95 Our Price:$159.96

Since the FLHTCSE's didn't have tourpaks (FLHTCSE2's had chopped tourpak) this might be part of the problem. :nixweiss:

LOL, that's f'd. :huepfenlol2:   I can't believe they'd think a cover for a bike that doesn't even come with a tour-pak would fit those with chopped tour-paks, leather tour-paks OR king tour-paks.  WTF were they thinking? :nixweiss:  Somebody's suffering from a serious case of CHIT-FOR-BRAINS at the MoCo. ;D

My wifes '07 FLHRSE CVO cover is marked softail and does not fit, I just got a '08 Ultra SE and haven't even taken the cover out of the bag yet, I'll try it for fit and let you know .  I wonder if any of them are the right size??

Took the cover # 91630-04  and copy of this thread to the local dealer this morning. Confirmed...does not fit on the bike that was on the floor either. So, the parts gal did an enquiry through the official HD on- line catalogue and guess what? 91630-04 is now superceded by 91630-04A The dealer said they would handle it and a new cover is on order.

Thanks Rockdon
Great info here!

Thanks guys, I guess that answers the question for me without me even trying it.  I'm sure glad this came up or years from now I'd have a cover that wouldn't fit and couldn't do anything about it.  :2vrolijk_21:

Bob,
I'm sure Brian, I or some other SEEG owner would have looked out for you and wouldn't let you be stuck w/a cover that didn't fit w/o compensating you in some way. ;D Seriously though I'm glad it was noticed and is working out for you guys. I've never taken mine out the bag, but would definitely not be happy if I had a cover that wouldn't fit. >:(

Since I have a permanently mounted king tour-pak on the SEEG, I guess I'm SOL with it, too. :o ;D  Maybe (in a page out of Don's book) I could sell it to myself to use on the SERG?  At least with it, I can remove the chopped pak if it doesn't fit. :nixweiss: :huepfenlol2:

Has anyone tried the .... 4 A cover yet.  I just took delivery on a duracell and I thought the cover didn't fit.  1 the antennas don't fit in the back slot which is too narrow and too it is too short barely gets over the bags.  The dealer said they checked the factory web site and there are no reports there of an issue.  So my dealer so far was not aware of a problem and didn't offer a fix.  The cover fits ok with the antennas folded over.  But there is no way to get it over the pipes.  Mine has the September date on it too.

If the 4A cover fits better I will either press the dealer or just buy one.  But I was hoping to know if that is in fact a better fitting cover.

Thanks

Phil
