OK, you got me to thinking...

So out to the garage I go to dig out my unopened '05 SEEG Cover and compare it to my '08 Duracell Cover.

They both have the same number "91630-04
the '05 cover delivered to me in Sept. '04 is dated "06/07/04"
the '08 cover delivered to me in Dec. '07 is dated "08/23/07"

With them both obviously made to fit the '04 & '05 chopped TP,
is it any wonder why they don't fit the '08 with the king TP?

I actually would be surprised if they even fit the '06 & '07 SE's if they are also listing the same # from '04.

Anyway, with all the chatter about this issue, I just had to go and check for myself.

Naturally I will be requesting a new cover to properly fit my Duracell.

Take care & ride safe

Took the cover # 91630-04  and copy of this thread to the local dealer this morning. Confirmed...does not fit on the bike that was on the floor either. So, the parts gal did an enquiry through the official HD on- line catalogue and guess what? 91630-04 is now superceded by 91630-04A The dealer said they would handle it and a new cover is on order.

Thanks Rockdon
Great info here!

:nervous: Sucks for me, I took a straight edge to the antenna opening after delivery. Oh well, I only used cover once for about a week and when I took it off I found that crickets had defecated all over my bike. When its off it only collects dust, and thats alot more fun to clean off :huepfenjump3:

I called my dealer and told him I needed the new "A" model cover.  Their head parts guy called me back and said the only difference is a longer slot for the antennas.  He couldn't find any other info about it.
I am wondering if anyone has an '08 USE that has tried this particular cover, and if it does indeed fit properly.  Is it just the slot difference, or is the cover bigger in the back?

When I tried to put on the original cover that came with the bike, it was really hard to get over the tour pack. Actually, I was afraid it was going to rip. The new cover ( A ) goes over easily and covers all the paint work from front to back. The antennas easily go through the rear slot as well.

How did you get the new cover.  Did your dealer call you and say "better bring that "old" CVO cover in so we can give you the correct one"? Or did you call them up and complain?  -If so, what was the dealer's response?
My dealer acts like they don't know what the hell I'm talking about.  -Steve

Brought in a copy of this thread, which indicated something amiss with the cover.
Brought in the old cover and tried it on one of the bikes they had on the floor.
Confirmed the fit was not only tight but the antenna location was way off.

So, the parts guy took down the number of the updated cover as noted previously by others in this thread. Took the old cover, called me four days later with the new one and said " Have a nice day!"

Got home, covered the bike and smiled. :)

-Just got off the phone with my dealer about this cover again.  I guess the MoCo is aware of the problem, but people are going to have to "pursue" getting a new cover.  The MoCo isn't going to do anything about it unless the customer complains.
The covers list for $199, and since everyone with '07s and '06 USEs got the right one for their bikes, there isn't much of a market for returned covers!
In other words, if you have a new '08 USE, you better get the new cover while you can.  (obviously, you have to bring your old cover in for the exchange so if you haven't tried in on yet, I recommend leaving it in the plastic).

I showed this thread to the dealer, they called the moco, had a cover shipped to the house.  The dealer didn't even want the old cover back.  Guess I'll ebay it or give to a friend or something.

Guys, I just went to the dealer about this today and I talked to my service rep. Well they had a new 08 CUSE sitting on the floor, we looked at the cover and guess what part number was. It was the number for the new covers 91630-04A . So it looks like Harley is sending out the bikes with the new cover now.

Just thought I would let you know that my local dealer discussed the problem of the covers not fitting with "the powers" at the recent winter dealer meeting in Texas.

I picked up my new cover today and it does fit my '08 Duracell!  Impressed with the very quick service.

The number is: 91630-04A dated 11/07/07

Take care,

I also emailed my dealer with a link to this thread and they got me a new cover in about a week. I asked if they wanted the other back, causes it fits my Road Glide perfect, the nice lady in parts said "just keep it for your trouble". The new one fits great on the 08.

My new cover is in at the dealership, but it's being treated as a "warranty claim".  I have to give them my milage and turn in the "old" cover.  They even asked me to supply my VIN number!  (Wow!! you mean they already forgot about me?)
I'm just glad to get it resolved, but what the hell is wrong with the Mo Co?  Kind of a "don't ask- don't tell" policy.  When you buy the most expensive motorcycle they have ever produced, why should WE have to bring it to THEIR attention?  I know what they're thinking, "let's hope most people don't use their dust cover, and we'll pocket the cost of getting one that actually fits".
If they do this with a dust cover, you can sure as hell see why they don't want to acknowledge a problem with all the "leakers".

Has anyone tried this new cover on a 06-07 with the leather tour pak?
I assume if it fits the King Tour Pak, it should fit the leather one too.
Anyone with a 06-07 going to try to have the dealer replace theirs? :D
