I was on another forum, talking with a guy about the 110 issues...his bike is now in the shop for it's first fix. He reports the following:
I actually saw my old and new cylinders the other day. You could feel the lip of the sleeve above the bore of the casting of the cylinder. It moved up and must have destroyed the gasket and thus the leak. I was told today by a mechanic that it was probably a bad run on the cylinders.... we will see. The new gaskets have what looks like metal at the diameter of the sleeve - not sure of the function of that - again we will see. The most info I could get out of the tech about my tranny was that there were bad bearings he did not elaborate when asked which ones?
Didn't know about the transmission bearing...has anyone else had this problem? This guy lives in California...he also filled a formal complaint with the MOCO...they asked what it would take to make him happy, since he told them he was considering the Lemon Law. At least this is some indication that the MOCO is very much aware of the problem and is attempting damage control.
I told him they should give him a free 7 year warranty...
But, it does sound like a new style gasket is being tried?
