Just over 8,000 miles. I am meticulous when it comes to cleaning my bike though. I put it on a lift and spray it down with Honda cleaner and then hand wash it after every long ride. Its very possible that the leak has been there a while and I just didn't see it. After so much info on this site about the leaks I had just recently started looking at the head gasket closely after every ride.

Don't tell your dealer that.  They'll blame the Honda cleaner for the leak!

That's a good one.   :D  Come to think of it, maybe it was the Honda cleaner, that stuff will take of anything.   :o  I'll bet its a Honda conspiracy.    :'( The rest of you guys been spraying Honda cleaner on your engine!

Merry Christmas and happy oil leak! For a New Year's resolution, I'm going to quit acknowledgeing my engine leaks oil, since all the dealers tell me there is no problem. It's all in my head.

These would be the gaskets so strong that by themselves they can hold cylinder liners in place and add 20% torque to not just the bike they're installed in but the bike parked next to them.

Do you have the part number handy??

It's a sub-sub-sub variant.  So there's three letters after the number.  12345-07ASS.

That would be the folks who produced the products that gave so many so much to complain about.

Negative. That would be the ones that couldn't' be adult about presenting their point. Whomever that may be.

I wasn't the one that used the terminology "ambush". :nixweiss: My time in the military tells me that is a hostile situation of which I don't think anyone of us would want to be subjected to.... Right, wrong, or indifferent. :nixweiss:

Methinks he doth protect too much.  Gary, when a company is as evasive, elusive, nonresponsive, arbitrary and difficult as the MoCo too regularly is the responses are going to degenerate from direct and positive to contrary and silly.  They do a great deal to bring it all on themselves.

I remember writing part way through the bad paint fiasco that the company should have learned the lessons of the Nixon administration.  Come clean and get it behind you.  Instead men were still told for months that there was no problem and that nothing could be done.  Those same men had to conduct pitched administrative battles with dealerships and the motor company to even get contacts before finally (and not always) getting everything done.

After a full model year plus some we still read of dealerships reporting "oh gee, I've never heard of a 110 problem."  Bullchit (new disclaimer demerit).

Then can not expect responses to remain reasoned, professional and polite when they treat their clientele like uninformed, unwise and unintelligent children.  One reaps what one sows.

Me thinks you FOS. ;) I'm not protecting anyone. However I do think there is a certain way to approach things. Saying that you are going to "ambush" someone is not the way to get anything accomplished.

Do I empathize w/those that are having issues... Yes I do.... Do I agree w/the way the MoCo is handling it... No I don't....Do I think ambushing the MoCo is going to get anything resolved... No I don't.

Trust me I've tried before the hardheaded approach before so I know of what I speak. Most things are resolved when party's concerned can sit at the table and speak intelligently and peacefully.

I am being told there will be a Motor Company presence at M/V 08.
When I started down this path I figured I might as well go for the gusto, I asked for someone from the CVO division.
No need to talk with a Buell Blast assembly guy, go for the best.

But look at the big picture.
Where can a manufacturer go to get feedback on their product than to a group that owns 200 to 300 of your finest machines.
A one on one meeting with a group that owns 9+ million dollars worth of  Custom Vehicle Operation machines.
Talking about reaching and talking with a target audience. Seems like a smart place for the Mo Co to be.
We shall see is all I can say!

As far as "Ambush", I really think the members of this site are smarter than that.
And so is the Mo-Co.
