FiredOOd pretty well hit it right on. These would be my add'l tips:
When starting the screws when reinstalling the fairing, take your time and don't crossthread any as it is easily done. They should turn easily.
If you got the $229.95 component speakers, you have to bend the metal fairing crossbraces a little to clear the large components.
Since I now have the HID headlight, I now remove the headlight assy before removing the fairing to unplug it. I think I would do the same if I had the stock headlight.
The best tip I got from 2Lane and Hd-dude regarding the bottom screws between the forks: Don't use them any more. Either get a piece of 1/4" all thread rod about 1-1 1/8" long and screw them into the fairing and then secure with nuts. The better method is to go to a hardware store and get allen screws to screw into the fairing and secure with plastic nuts. If you use allen screws, the longest I could find was about 1" long and they are too short so I bought a 1/4" allen screw and bottomed it into the fairing with loctite and then screwed in the 1" allen screw. Much easier to start nuts between the forks than the MOCO screws.
You ask why go to all that trouble, you will have the fairing off more than you care to in installing all the goodies the members of this site finds. Good luck.
