The eagle's have so much detail the picture really doesn't bring out the depth. The tooling is increadable.

I initially had an idea of where/how I wanted an eagle on the seat Bob was making for me. I started on this project just before the Maggie valley ride, if you guys remember that's just before I got sick. I spent a lot of time comming up with the combination of what I wanted and how much to spend and I could sense that I was holding back the artist in him so I decided to back off letting him take the direction of the project. After how the whole thing turned out I couldn't be happier.

I can't promise making MV, I have so much to catch up on after getting sick I would have to say at this point it looks impossible. Two years ago I had no idea I was going and made arrangements two weeks before the trip after getting the b&b seeg, then last year I was all setup and 3 days before I got sick.

Now if I did go I would probably ride the seeg and you know how I feel about trailers. Maybe some day I will trailer down and bring both bikes and the wife, that would be the ideal solution (not taking into account using a trailer) ha ha......Roy

You guys have been helping me with your suggestions comments/compliments for three and a half years and I have got more from this website than I could ever have expected.

I have got a couple more things to do to this bike now that the seat is done.

Ya Scott, allways stuff to do. I have gone back and forth so many times before I found the right look for me on this bike (remember project fat-glide) ?

You ask "what are you thinking of next?" there is some exhaust modifying, some light changing, some license plate mods, and oh I almost forgot some..............chrome involved.

In my mind, I pictured something like you came up with. I might use the Elephant of Stingray as the main leather style and use the pan from a corbin classic solo so I can lock it. What do you thing can I expect to spend for a solo seat for my CVO Springer?

Your plan sounds very interesting as unique as your bike is, a truly custom made seat can only develop the style and personality of your bike further.

I would never speculate of what Bob might charge, you for one are talking different materials. Then their are different prices on the hide used pending on the pattern of the material (for instance alligator tail has a higher price pending how tall the little points are) I would think sting ray would be dependent on how the eye looks. Then there is the time spent on the tooling, the eagles on my seat were estimated as I remember at 9hrs labor.  Bottom line......call Bob, he's easy to talk to. But expenct this: if you get a quote and then start working on something really uniqe multiply your initiall quote by 2x or 3x. Go ahead and do it the springer like you have should have an awsome seat.

He can use a corbin pan, although they are fiberglass I believe. I know he likes using Le-Pera, give him a call for input. I bought a new oe pan for the chrome sefb style, was only 60 bucks from Zannotti.

btw, I brought in my front fender so they could match the color. Just thought I'd pass that along cause a color matched seat might look great on your's..........good luck, Roy......

I had a set of Alligator Bob saddlebags and seat for my 03 SERK that SCRM-R now owns. He used the seat pan from a stock 03 SERK, covered it with space age memory foam and a gel pad. For the saddlebags he used a set of RK Classic shells. I was fortunate in that I bought a set that he had done for himself so I was able to see many pictures of them before I (under the influence of heavy duty painkillers) wrote the check. I was not disappointed as they looked better in person than any picture could do justice to. Everywhere I went people were fascinated with them. Luckily even though I spent a weekend in Hollyweird with the bike, I never ran into anyone from PETA. SCRM-R absolutely loves them and has won some trophies since putting them on his 03 SERK. I mention having seen them finished before buying them because I know one person who had to accept Bob's interpretation of what he wanted vice what he really wanted as Bob sees himself as an artist. Which, I agree he is. The caveat here however is this. Since he only will do a design once, you either have to be willing to accept what he gives you or find a used seat (set) Considering that you're probably looking at $2,000 for just the seat if you use anything exotic at all, that's a big risk. FYI, his biggest supporters and the people I am aware of who are the most happy with his work are all close personal friends of his. As I said, I am because I bought a finished product. I would not have been had I been the person I mentioned above.

He is an artist and sometimes you have to coax them in the direction you want but give them the slack they need to be creative, I think it worked well for me in this case. I have met Bob and talked to him every year since I was first aware of his stuff back in 2004 at the Chicago bike show. He is a super nice guy and I don't even think he needs the money as he does this stuff just for the love of it. When the design was comming together and I would talk to him, it was ex-hillerating talking to him when he would describe what he was going to do in the design, you could just feel how excited he was, I believe he was just as excited as I was and that gave me the confidence in the direction he was taking with this seat design.

I know the seat and bags you had very well as I saw this set at the Chicago bike show when Alligator Bob first showed them at his exhibit. It had to be extremely hard for you to part with these. I remember making the statement that Alligator Bobs stuff was a little over the top for me thinking I wouldn't have a Ferrari in my driveway either. Boy its funny how things change (not the Ferrari idea tho). I fell back in love with my sefb and this seat gave me the spark I needed to get through this blasted salt covered highway here in Illinois winter.

Hey REO.....good to hear from you and know that you're doing better physically.  Also, great to see you fabulous looking seat addition.  What a great looking seat!  You're so right in that a custom seat that turns out even better than you expected it to re-news your love of a scooter.  I had that happen when I had Corbin stitch-up a custom seat for my softtail years ago and when I opened the boxes I was very pleased/surprised that it came out even better than i had imagined.  It made my Special special all over again.  Now, I'm wanting to do the same thing for my very used Huckleberry... ...and I've been looking at the examples on Bob's website.....some beautiful artwork in those seats.  I'm at a distinct disadvantage from you in being so far away from him and I find it hard to do this kind of thing over the phone.  Much better to discuss eye to eye when trying to give input to a artist and negociate the desired outcome.....esp. in a seat.  That's probably harder than a paint job 'cause of the added problems of 'fit', physical durability, comfort, etc.  I like the stingray spider seat he has on his website, but wonder about using it for anything other than 'show'.  I need a seat that I can use for cross country trips as well just looking good.  I can't wait to see yours mounted on your scooter.  I know you and Bob are proud of it.     har!  spyder

That seat looks incredible!  Looking forward to seeing pictures of it on the bike.  Better yet, seeing it in person in MV.  It sure does look expensive, but if it didn't, would it be worth what you paid?  I hope you enjoy the new seat to it's fullest.  Let us know how it is on comfort.  For sure, it has the "form" part of the "form and function" equation covered!  Congrats!
