Howie, sorry to hear of your friend's tragedy.  That looks like quite an intense fire.   I'm happy to hear they all made it out safely.  Such a terrible loss to lose your home and belongings, but thank God they still have one another . . . . and friends like you!  I will keep them in prayer as they sort through what comes next, and you, as well!

Sorry to hear of this tragedy in you friends life.  Sure glad they were not physically harmed.

I have been in the insurance business for 20 years, so I have had a few opportunities to talk with people that have lost their homes to fires, tornadoes, & floods.  Insurance will take care of the financial aspect of this tragedy, but doesn't do much to help with the emotional aspects of the loss of a home.  It takes time to get over this type of loss.  They will be in my prayers.

Thanks Brian, Ed, Reb and C/B! That's the only saving grace from this. And the most important. They got out unharmed with their lives. Everthing else is material things. They can be rebuilt or replaced. But all of the families saved memories were destroyed. These memories are only in their minds now. He's a strong guy and is doing what he can to keep his family up about this. But he needs some help too, although he's way too proud to admit it. I will do anything I possibly can to help them! Thank you all for thinking about them! That's all I can ask of ya'll!

Even though my adrenaline gets flowing when I fight fire it's a love/hate thing even when there isn't any risk of life involved. Howie you hit upon something that it took me several years in the fire service to realize. Even though everyone gets out safely the sentimental things (pictures, heirlooms, etc) that can be lost and never be replaced will always leave a void in those affected lives. As a FF we try to do our best even when fighting the fire to protect property from water/smoke/heat/fire damage.

Thanks so much Gary! You and Duane were the first 2 people I thought of as we were living thru this nightmare. I lost friends in 9/11, and watched the FF work tirelessly and endlessly down there. They had to be pried from Ground Zero before they would leave without finding all of their Brother's remains. I lost a friend FF where the first floor collapsed on top of him, while he was fighting a fire in the basement of a hardware store. I can never thank all of you guys and gals enough for risking your lives every day, selflessly, to help total strangers! I thank FF all the time as I do Servicemen, for all that they do to keep people like me safe. They think I'm nuts, but I always get a smile in return. Thank God for folks like you and Duane, and each and every uniformed service person, civil and military! We ain't got chit without ya'll!!!

I apologize for this being so somber. Thank you for letting me vent. It's easier than having a conversation about it for me. I appreciate ya'll putting up with it.

Howie, the tragedies of good friends become in at least some small way your own too.  Just because you feel for them.  So let him know that people he doesn't even know have his family in their thoughts, as you and Binx are too for looking out for them as you can.  Best to everyone.

Howie sorry to hear about your friend Joey and his family, dOOd is sooooo  right about the void it leaves in one life about the lost of sentimental things (pictures, heirlooms, etc) but the VOID would be GREATER if a love one was lost so Thank GOD for that.... Joey and his family will be in our thoughts and prayers as well.

Glad everyone got out safe, things can be replaced, but it must be devastating to loose all you personal possessions that can never be replaced. Our payers are with them.
