Today's work concentrated on the back end. Fender, FLHX fascia, Bushtec Hitch were all installed.

The new fascia really looks nice and hides the hitch pretty well. When the fender was at the body shop I had them weld the bolt for the fender support and glass over the depression around the bolt. Normally this depression is covered by the SUBTOTRF or the cloisone emblem you see here.

Since the fender was smoothed and the emblem is not needed to hide the bolt head, I was able to lower it so it won't be hidden under the license plate.

How did you attach the FLHX ground effects fascia?  I see you did not drill holes and mount it with bolts...

Isn't it amazing how many wires it takes to run a motorcycle...

Your powdercoating looks fantastic....  great job - nice pictures - thanks for sharing...

The fascia is held pretty tight to the bottom of the fender by the support bracket. To attach the side, I used 3M fender tape. I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon.

The powder coat look a lot more 'red' than the paint under the flourescents, but with the flash the color looks a lot closer. I think outside some of the difference will disappear. I'm looking forward to getting it all together and back outside.

Normally, the FLHX fascia run/brake light runs up to the accessory connector but I'm using the unused connector in the tail light which would normally be used for the fender tip or license plate flood. For this installation, I've joined the run/brake and license plate flood light into the same line so I don't have to run any wiring up to the accessory connector.

I used 3M fender tape on mine the first go around...  It stayed put for awhile, but eventually did not.  It now is mounted in the stock manner with the studs and bolts.... ;)

We'll see how long it lasts. I may wind up drilling it later, but for now I like the lack of holes. :2vrolijk_21:

I would have prefered that also...but it's done now...  I wired mine in a similiar manner, but I made the connection in the tour pak.  My Zumo is wired into the accessory circuit...

To get the hitch to clear the light in the fascia, I had to 'Z' bend the hitch a good bit. I tried using all of the wiggle room in the bolt holes, but it kept hitting the light pretty badly. The 'Z' bends do lower the installed height a bit making it more visible from the rear but I think it will still be mostly hidden.

I ride most of the time without the TP on so I needed a permanent set-up. I'm thinking I may do the Custom Dynamics LED strip on the TP so I'll need the TP connector, plus turn signals for the strip. I'll get that done later.

Now I've got about 1/8" to 3/16" clearance between the receiver tube and the light in the FLHX fascia. I wish I didn't have to bend the brackets but that's what it took so the pieces wouldn't hit.

I did that too, but I made a "Y" connector - one leg to the LED strip and one leg to the FLHX tail/brake light, using the connection in the tour pak.  Same thing but different....  I did not have to bend the hitch to clear though...it is close, but clears without having to bend it...
