Primary side all buttoned up. Too bad the purdy VR stabilizer link is totally hidden.

Back end is coming along too. New chrome belt guard and chrome bracketry goodies really make it look better when the bags are off. Now, about that butt ugly IDS dinner plate.....

I'm looking for the other grommet for the right side. Like many, there is a parts gremlin that lives in my shop that likes to digest small parts. When I find the bugger, I'll get the right side detachables installed.

Looking good Chuck    :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks Mike. It's not an accurate restoration like yours, but then again, this ain't never gonna be a classic. :)

Looking better by the second, Chiefy!  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Two things I noticed:

1) I'd put a clean rag securely over the oil filter boss till you get a filter on there.  Murphy's Law states small items dropped will go into the worst possible orifice!

2) You've not got the rubbers on the fairing cap where the bars pass though, and I suspect they'd have been much easier to fit (they glue on) before fitting the fairing cap, no?

More redness from the right side. It's hard to tell in these shots but the inner fairing from the radio hole down is a much darker red. The camera is only seeing the candy on top. Outside it should be a different animal.

Less and less spaghetti under the fairing. Hopefully that will get cleaned up next. My plan is for a ride this w/e.

Last one.

I'm waiting on more shiny bolts to finish up the motor mount. Once that's tight, I'll be able to cover up all the prettyness with regulators, coolers and covers.

Thanks Jim.
1. I did have some paper towel in the ports to soak up any drainage but they got removed for installation. Thanks for pointing that out.

2. The installation of the Wild1 575s made those grommets go away. Thw new width of the bars eat up all of the space and then some. The bars are actually touching the inner fairing inside the opening and the fairing cap had to be clearanced a bit to go over them, but only about 1/16th or 3/32nd. One other item I noted was that the metal brackets that hold the switches in the fairing cap is actually in contact with the bars, keeping the fairing cap from seating in 100%.

While I like the bars a lot and think they'll be great to ride with, they're not simply a plug-n-play upgrade. You have to be willing to do some modifications to make them fit. Most won't be immediately obvious, but there were a few surprises while doing the install.
