Chubbys 575 Bars on 08 SEUC
« on: February 25, 2008, 12:05:06 PM »

Anyone who has put on the Chubby 575 bars on an 08 SEUC would you please let me know how your replacement went and if you had issues with hydraulic clutch line being to short?, reusing oem top bar clamp? and what part number you used for longer brake line? I already have outer fairing and inner lower swith cover off for other work and I quess this would be the time to do it. Thanks

I ttried to get my stealer to put a set of 575's on my 08 seuc for me and they refused. They said they needed a longer front brake line and that Harley didn't make one and they would not use a non Harley line on the ABS. I told them I wouldn't have any problem with putting them on myself if they would hook the digital tech to it to bleed the ABS. They also refused to do that for me.

I don't think you will need a longer clutch line. I put a set on my 06 seuc and used the stock clutch line.

   Hope this helps

Thanks, I talked with my dealer and they said they would have no problem with me doing the work and they they would bleed the brakes, they also said it would not effect any warranty.

You had better luck than I let me know how it goes. by the way on the 06 the top clamps worked also.

If you would let me know what line you end up using on the brakes.

Good luck

:vrolijk_11:  Please list required parts and part numbers.  I am planning on doing this soon and the info will be greatly appreciated.

Also very courious about the break bleeding......Are you going to try to bleed the breaks yourself first?  I can't see that it should be much different that a cage with 4wheel ABS :nixweiss:

My dealer confirmed it takes special equipment to bleed ABS brakes, and they offered to do it for me, so I will probably just trailer it to them when I'm done. I will post pics, part#'s and pricing when I'm done.

Good news on the Chubby 575's on 08 SEUC, no need to do anything with brake line, more than long enough, no need to break open system at all. Just started putting back and was prety happy not to have to deal with replacing brake line.

Here's a pic of old and new side by side, sat on bike to adjust bars and I think I'm going to be real happy with them.

Ok, all you had to have was the new bars?

Any problems fishing the wiring through the new bars?

Looks like it would be a good time to install the Hog Wired amp.

I actually cheated and took the bars once I had them off to my Harley Dealer and had them switch the wires over. As you can see in the picture I also ran a four wire in left bar for my GPS. I instaled the Hwag Wired also but would recommend doing the bars first and the Hawg Wired after bars are reinstaled.

Dealer really surprised me when they refused.  They have been an excellent dealer in the past and I have had very few issues with them.

Thanks to Jim with his report and info I have started to install the 575's on mine, I am about half way there.
