Harley forced to fix 110" motor problems???
« on: March 24, 2008, 10:15:36 PM »

I just got a letter from Audi that address a class action law suit against a faulty instrument cluster on my wifes Quattro TT.In a nut shell, they have agreed to replace the faulty instrument cluster on all TT's between certain years because they in fact new it was defective.

My question is why,or how is Harley getting away with such a wide spread problem.?

To be honest,I'm not on the HD bashing bandwagon over this problem. However,if I had several failures like some of you,I probably would be.

One of our site members caught up with Willie G and asked him about the MoCo's problem with 110" motors

Willie's response
" What problem "

Does that assist in your evaluation of this issue ?

I remember reading on another web forum several months ago about a group forming, led by a member attorney to file a class action against the MoCo. I guess it fizzled out. Probably one of those things when you get the locomotive moving don't let it slow down. Personally, and i know for a fact that the MoCo has agreed to take back problem 2007 CVO's under condition you purchase another Harley with your trade money. In instances I know of, full purchase less tax and license was credited tworads another bike. Anyone can accomplish this, it depends how determined you are to drive the dealer up the wall to get attention and your mind set on never wanting a CVO... It sure sounds like they are all 38K junk from all the forum talk. Im sitting on a 96 inch with fingers crossed, I hear they have probelms too,,, mostly crank issues. We'll see how long this one goes,  And as for you Willie,, maybe you ought to let Honda buy you out... At least they have a decent water cooled to slap in these Ultra Pigs.

My wife has a 2000 Suburu that's been in the shop for head gasket issues three times.  It's been repaired under warranty each time and they are offering us lifetime head gasket warranty.  I'm OK with that.  The car has 80,000 miles on it.  It's inconvenient but the car is awesome and it doesn't cost us anything when it leaks coolant again.  I'd have all of the confidence in the world in my bike if HD simply issued a similar TSB.  No recall, no admission, just a TSB and warranty repair.

\\Yes keep those fingers crossed. A friend of mine had the complete motor replaced in his 96" Ultra after 5000 miles.

This is happening with the 88" motors. Cappy's is in the shop now for crank issues. He's looking at either a complete rebuild or a new motor

Your Dealer,,, BUT if your bike is over mod,, i.e. engine components forget it, you loose, he wins.. if your bike is pretty much stock, and you have consistent problems, lots of time in shop, engine replacments etc... and you threaten regional service writer with a good attorney, you WIN... It also depens how good you are.. don't give up!!

When my new motor leaks, I'm going that route.  It's 100 percent stock, stock bad crank, stock leak, etc.
