Think outside the box (literally).  Cover the new wire with heat shrink for a little protection and wire tie it to the outside of the race track.  It doesn't have to be in there.  They never were before.

I know - I'm just anal like that! :-)  Even in the channel, I fit a sleeve (I usually strip the inside out of a coax, or similar) to protect cables going under the tank.  I can't see them so I get nervous!   :nervous:

Jim, I'm very careful with wire runs.  But you're a sick bastard.  Just ill.  There's likely no counselor for that either.  I think you're just screwed.

However.......

You won't insulate and safely tie an uninterrupted home run from the tank to the fairing.  But you will cut in to a virgin instrument harness to save a half hour's time lifting and replacing the tank :nixweiss: ?  Hmmmm............  :huepfenlol2:

You're right Don, I'm one sick bastard and I admit it!  8)

I just don't like long runs of always live cables, even fused, insulated, protected, armoured....  It's the voices that tell me not to like them!  :drink:

I rarely cut a wire unless I no longer want it to go where it's going. I will however strip back the insulation and wrap the new wire around it, followed by solder.  A good stripper is needed (ain't that always the case  :P) and you also need to know the proper wire size, otherwise you could do damage the original wire.  This pretty much eliminates the ability to use shrink on it, but I live with it.  :bananarock:

Exactly the same technique I use Fr8. I usually part the wires and put the new wire through the bunch and wrap round before soldering.  If I can, I take the nearest connector out of its plug receptacle and slip heatshrink over it, but that's not an option this time.

Liquid tape works really well in these situations.  Two coats should do the trick nicely!

That's not even too bad a price, considering that it's made here and shipped there.
