Great, but we also don't live in a semi-communist dictatorship and have a quality of life far exceeding anything they could ever dream of.

Sean

I can't argue with you there Sean. I don't think anyone would swap a US lifestyle for a Venezuelan one.

'72 Baja edition Type 1 Bug is my 'daily driver' UAV.  (Urban Assault Vehicle).  Guess my AR-15 carbine is as close as I'm gonna get to carrying a 'machine gun' these days.  :jack: har!  spyder

Gas could fall to $2 if Congress acts, analysts say
Limiting speculation would push prices to fundamental level, lawmakers told
By Rex Nutting & Michael Kitchen, MarketWatch

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The price of retail gasoline could fall by half, to around $2 a gallon, within 30 days of passage of a law to limit speculation in energy-futures markets, four energy analysts told Congress on Monday. Testifying to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Michael Masters of Masters Capital Management said that the price of oil would quickly drop closer to its marginal cost of around $65 to $75 a barrel, about half the current $135. Fadel Gheit of Oppenheimer & Co., Edward Krapels of Energy Security Analysis and Roger Diwan of PFC Energy Consultants agreed with Masters' assessment at a hearing on proposed legislation to limit speculation in futures markets. Krapels said that it wouldn't even take 30 days to drive prices lower, as fund managers quickly liquidated their positions in futures markets. "Record oil prices are inflated by speculation and not justified by market fundamentals," according to Gheit. "Based on supply and demand fundamentals, crude-oil prices should not be above $60 per barrel."

And they used to regulate the phone and airlines also - both of which are not any longer...and are cheaper then they used to be.

Gas is bad enough but went o the movie this week and had to rub my eyes to verify that a medium popcorn and coke was $10.29! 24 oz. coke for $5.00 makes somewhere around $25.00 a gallon. Popcorn ... who knows. How could you send two or three kids to a movie? I just drank water, watched the show, got on my 32K scooter and rode away to the steakhouse. :D

This sounds really really good.  But by all past experience if Congress gets involved we had better hang onto our A$$es.

Oh good more regulation....What is this the Socialist Republic on America...Free markets baby...
Regulate this and that...Regulate, schmegulate...There is tons of oil...

Regulated airlines has been a disaster, how many times have how many lines gone bankrupt, to be bailed out?
Regulate guns, works great, sure...Those Aholes in DC need to get a clue..

I'd run for office but the world ain't ready for me... :soapbox:

Quoting myself.........OK, so I had to drive the ton truck today.  Went to Rome, GA to drop off some stuff for Vgirl to sell in her new shop.  I nursed it along.  That big Cummins will actually get 22 mpg and better if I can keep my foot out of the fuel pump.  I was rather impressed.  It took alot of discipline to keep from rompin' on it, but at today's diesel prices.....................a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

OK Henry, I tried.
Didn't make your 22 mpg.
239 miles 11.5 gallons ='s 20.78
And I hated every minute of those 239 miles.
But I tried.

99 Ford Explorer all wheel drive-my average is 15 mpg as most of mine is town driving. I am ready to buy a one-seater hydrogen/flex fuel/electric/flux capacitor driven vehicle...currently costing me $72.00 per week to get to and from work. I don't like riding the bike in too much as we seem to be in a "dust and grime tunnel" where our office is located.
