Rich Green, my ridin' buddy just passed away.

Rich Green of Westford, Ma. just passed away of natural causes.  He was the only one of my buds that rode and was going to get rid of his '77 Shovel because he had no one to ride with. The rest of all decided to start riding at that point.
He was a part time fireman and co owner of the best body shop around.  We were friends for 25 years.  He recently fixed a bent frame '99 RK for himself and still had the '77 Shovel which was the first HD I ever rode.  I can still see him sitting on the bridge at the Weirs at Laconia with his Dunkin Donuts coffee watching the bikes go by.  He had hundred of friends and ran into them every where we went.  He painted many bikes and used to do bike paint for the local HD dealer.  Many of 81's bikes were painted by Richie.  He was 55, way too young.  When we went out with the wives, he would always make the reservations as Doc Green, OBGYN. In the wind brother!

Real sorry to hear about your friend. 55 is no age at all and he should have shared many more years in the wind with you.

This kind of news really makes me think about my " Don't put it off till tomorrow, do it today" philosophy and makes me all the more determined to pursue my dreams.

My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Nige, when my brother in law ( i grew up next to) died suddenly at 55, I said the same thing and haven't regretted my decision.  I decided to go to Daytona, Sturgis, Myrtle Beach and every other East Coast rally, which I have done.
The president of my company who is a very impressive inspirational speaker from silicon valley spoke at our office yesterday.  One thing he said really stuck with me.
"If you don't take a risk, you just took a risk."
I still can't believe Richie's gone.

Thanks dood, Rich was so proud when he passed the Fire Academy several years back.  I'm sure they will give him a great send off.

My sincere condolences on the loss of your friend & riding buddy.  Only 55 - guess we never know which ride might be our last. 

From your post can tell he had many friends, and for sure one very good one who misses him & his companionship.  Best get our priorities aligned whatever they may be, for time sometimes is shorter than we think it should be or would be.  Ride in remembrance.

Phil,

Sorry about your loss.  Sounds like Rich was a good friend and a great guy to be around. 

It's tough to loose a good friend at such a young age.  News like this should make all of us re-access our priorities.
