Hey guys! Guess what? Today I dropped my '08 CVO Springer Softail off at the dealership that I bought it from for the oil leak that it had and I was thinking that the front end head gasket was leaking. I was quite well informed that it goes deeper than that. They told me that they have been having troubles with the '08 110 motors and it has something to do with movement of the casing or something inside or around the cylinder wall and that basically HD needs to do something about it. I believe that I am going to be 'sitting' for quite a while.

Wow, now that's a surprise!! :o  They just figured this out huh?  ::) :P  They must have been reading this forum, cuz the MoCo certainly didn't tell them that.

Let's hope they tell all the other dealers, DownTown Harley in Seattle told me they haven't seen any problems at all. I guess it's only a problem if it's your bike and not if your getting paid to fix it. :nixweiss:

Leaking cylinder head gasket! (see photo below) Took my SE Road King in for it's 10,000 mile check up at a dealer in the Chicagoland area and to address the leaking rear cylinder head gasket.  Front cylinder head gasket is also leaking but not as badly.  After the first week waiting to get the bike back I was told parts are ordered but not in.  After second week, told parts shipped but not in.  I called Harley Quality/Customer Service (414-343-4056) today and was told that new gaskets (#11907) were going to be shipped "shortly".  When I owe somebody I wish I could tell them I'll pay them "shortly".  I told dealer he might want to order a few extra gasket sets.
Because of cvoharley.com, I was very educated when talking to the service manager and Harley's Customer Service.  Service Manager made off as if he was not familiar with the CVO cylinder gasket issue.  I Lose that warm and fuzzy feeling when folks are not straight with me.
Harley quality/customer service did not say anything about the ongoing cylinder leakage other than they have a new gasket for the 110".
We'll see what happens from this point forward.  Having second thoughts about this bike however.  My priority is to ride, not deal with problems and breakdowns.  Last year the bike broke down on Labor Day weekend when I was out of State.  Had to find a tow service, rent a car ... lost a whole holiday weekend.  By the way, H.O.G (Harley Owners Group) was closed so all you could do in leave a message.  H.O.G. never called back.  Capital City Harley Davidson did the repairs, picked me up at the airport...  They were GREAT!  With all Capital City H-D did and then they would not take a tip.

Don't give up on a great bike because the Mfr, and their dealers are assholes and insult us with their BS. There are many ways to fix it right now. None involve these morons. But if you aren't into it enough to spend your own $$$ to fix it and want to rely on the "system", then you have to deal with the BS that goes with it. I'm glad you found a better dealer, but a new gasket ain't fixing their current 110 mess! ;)

Sorry to hear your bike is leaking, Harleytimes.  My bike was leaking front/rear as well.  Best of luck getting it fixed & soon.

Capitol City H-D is my dealer.  :2vrolijk_21:  They have been VERY upfront about this 110 issue - very well aware of it & proactive in making sure I knew EXACTLY what time line I was looking at for my repair.  They beat that by several days in fact.  Down for 1 week - which sucks, but compared to some - not all that bad considering.  CCHD does a lot of repairs for those on the road, and if my bike waits for a little so that an on the road bike that's down gets back sooner, s'ok with me. I give them high marks in service, consistently.  BTW - we had discussed this leak prior to my bike's problem & they were WELL aware of the cylinder slip as well as the crank run out issues.  Not sure why some dealers are playing games here - it ain't exactly new news.

07 FXSTSSE 4500 miles and a fine leak. Took it to the dealer and asked about the B gasket, said he had them. Guess they know about the leaks.

Hi Big dog,  I have a SEEG I'm on the third motor. First one the crank shifted took out the oil pump so that motor was done, #2 motor kept leaking at the base of the rear cylinder they tried fixing it 4 times till I said enough, get a new motor or write a check.  Well the third motor sounded better less rocker noise but after 1900 miles the rear cylinder started leaking oil at the base.  They now have a HD tech team coming to the dealership this week to try & fix the problem, the vice president of operations told me he felt they would be able to fix the problem & if not they would buy the bike back.  A bittersweet offer as I like the bike but I'm real tiered of the leaks & all the other problems like the heat grips not working, the horn, cruise control & the on going oil leaks. It would be nice if HD'S R&D finally got a fix for the problem, I have had the bike 19 months but only have 10,000 miles on the bike. I hope the HD tech team has the answer so I can enjoy this bike.

Bart, is it an 04 or 05 SEEG that's had all the problems or the SEUC in your avatar?

Put 1100 hard miles (2 up and fully loaded) on the SERK last weekend. This was the first test since the 'B' Gasket install. 5,000 mile service followed (actually 5,600) and everything is still sound. Fingers crossed for the big trip in August.
