Holy chit.  I just read this whole topic and good luck with the Jims. I am just happy I did not but the new 08 se road king I was looking at over the winter. Lets hope 09 brings lots of happiness for all of us looking to add to the stable.

Aight den...Here's a question for ya'll.

Bike should be ready to pick up in the next day or so. As I've stated. I've installed a new Jims 120 engine. I asked the dealer to give me two prices. One price is applying the warranty money he can get from HD towards the Jim's engine. The other price is letting HD rebuild the POS 110 engine and I'll pay the dealer for the Jim's engine 100%. The difference in the 2 prices is what the rebuilt 110 engine will cost me.

What's it worth? If the difference is $1,500, I'll have them rebuild it. At what point do I elect to just leave it in a 5 gallon bucket and use the left over parts as paper weights? $2,000? $2,500? $3,000? $3,500? $4,000?

Dang, if only you had not insulted you good friend and ACCOUNTANT earlier today, he might be able to give you some advice.

How much is the rebuilt 110 going to be worth?  What happens when this mystery fix gets announced, will they make the repairs to your crated engine?  Let's say you could sell your rebuilt for $3,500, take out your $1,500 investment, does the $2,000.00 in margin compensate you enough for your storage, time, mileage, and emotional discomfort?  Only you can put a price on that.

How's that for a CPA answer?  Chithead Public Accountant.

Well Chit...

I called to check and see if it's ready to go. Pipes are installed. Evidently they put it on the dyno to re-map the ECM? It tore up THAT dyno. that's the third Dyno it's messed up. There must be a jinx somewhere.

Guess what? After 2-1/2 months, the girl is home from the hospital! This SOB is sick! Is that how the younger generation says it? Sick is good? Bad is good? It's awesome. Nelson told me to get 100 miles on her and bring it back and he'd drop the oil. I told him I'd be back in about 1-1/2 hours. Keeping the RPMS below 4K and varying the speeds and careful not to lug it down right now. Went with the D&D fat cats 2:1. There are performance mufflers, quiet mufflers, and quiet performance mufflers. I went with the latter. It's just right for my tastes. It's a rather obnoxious sound, so it suits me to a tee. His dyno still needs calibrating so we've just started with a base map for the SERT. He'll do a slightly better tune next week before nheading to Henry's. After that, he'll try and do the best he can. If I think we could still have some improvements, I'll go back to John Golden and stick the Power Commander back on.

After riding the V-Rod for 2-1/2 months, These Dressers are heavy! But I got used to it quickly. It sure is sweet having it back.

Couldn't get but $1,500 out of those beancounters tightwads at HD so I told them to just rebuild the 110, I'll pay for the Jims. I'll let them build it back totally stock and then try and figure out what to do with it.

If anyone would be interested in buying this engine let me know and I'd have it built like you want it, as long as you pay for it. Of course, it'll have my VIN numbers on it. Arghhhh..I could always buy a frame or a wrecked bike and rebuild it. I dunno yet.

Not cheap, but I feel like I'll be happy with this route.
Had to change the exhaust.
Had to install a SERT.
Oh and added the HID headlights.
Oh, I should have added the spots too.
Where does it end?
I have popped the $750 budget.
