Louis, if the throttle control system is misbehaving in any way; or you think it might be, think strongly about getting it looked at.  Quirks could be precursors of larger problems.  And the new throttle system has not been trouble free.  Engine speed control is not something you want suddenly making decisions for you going down the road or while trying to slow down.

Thanks Twolane, and I agree. Just to clarify: I do not have a problem with the throttle control, it seems to be very responsive, to the slightest touch. This is what, in my opinion, unlocks the cruise control when you place your hand on the grip. I also have a 07 SERK without "by wire" throttle, and that behaves perfectly normal. The E-Glide is now at the dealer for service and I will have them check the throttle as well.

Ride safely,
Louis

had sticky throttle on 'THE ride home' from new purchase.
didn't know what it was at first, had to manually roll-off throttle at each shift.
intermittant, scary to hear really high engine revs when shifting.
brought it back to Dealer, took me right in on a VERY busy day.
fixed in 1/2 hour, tech said had to CAREFULLY disassemble throttle, something inside was pushed to far forward.
no charge, no paperwork, but think this SHOULD be reported to MoCo.

I had the same thing happen with the throttle sticking.  It was the grip that had moved and had to be adjusted.

I have an 08 ultra SE and had excessive end play in fbw throttle when new. I took it in for 1000 mile service and complained. They removed end play and then i would have the throttle stick at 3000 rpm. Took it back and they added some end play and have not had problem since.

I've not had one of these open so am asking the question completely in the dark.  But how is "end play" set on a system without any cable lash or adjustment?

On a cable system adjustments are made to add or remove lash to cable. End play on the fbw adds or removes lateral movement to the grip. If to much end play is removed then the grip does not rotate freely  on the bar.

Well my throttle just fell off at 14,000 miles. Thank God I wasn't at speed when it happened. Getting new heated grip this weekend when I take bike in for Heads and re-seal.

It was at the Dealer and they were Dynoing it and it came right off. They put a generic one on it that matched my left one and ordered me a new heated grip. I was really surprised when they told me it just came right off. I will always have that embedded in my brain when I'm cruising!!

No words for that.  Got to ask, what happens when the electronic throttle just comes apart?  Stays at current RPM?  Drops back to idle?  Run on?  How messed up is this?

Going for the kill switch is the obvious response. Still wonder what is the first response of the throttle system itself to the failure?

Yeah, I had the same thought. That's why the kill switch is right there ...
Well, in any case
