My grips aren't as good as last year at this time.  I only had thin leather gloves and would go out all day in temps in the 30s and 40s and would be fine.  I go out now in insulated gloves in the 50s and the grips are warm at best.

I got mine from www.hotgrips.com. They not fancy, but they work really well. My heated jacked liner has wiring for heated gloves, but I don't like them because they are too thick and I can't feel the bike.

I run my heated grips around 3 or 4 with heavy gloves.  Anything above 4 and they are too hot.  The seat is very warm on low and too hot on high even in very cold weather.

One thing to try with the heated seat issues... Try turning on the ACC switch on the Fairing Cap and then turn on the heated seat.  I thought mine wasn't working at all on low, but it seemed a little warm on high.  I found out that it was just by the time I put it on high, my but warmed it enough that it felt like a little heat had been generated but it hadn't.  The '08s are hooked up through the accesory circuit and don't get any power unles the switch is on.  Not sure it the '07s are that way too.  I met a guy last October who's dealer had replaced the seat and then when it still didin't work gave up and was waiting for an answer from Harley!  All it is is the switch.

My understanding is you can change how it's hooked up.  Remove the screw and pull the seat up enough to expose the lead under the fron part of the seat.  You'll see it hooked into a harness.  There's another empty plug on the harness that I've been told tha you can switch the seat into and then it's got power without the acc switch.  Haven't tried it so I have no idea if that's true or not.

If you have the switch on, you shouldn't be able to take the seat on high for very long.  It gets H-O-T!!!!  So if you barely feel it, you need it replaced.

Ride Safe,

Quite a few bikes with the heated seat have been delivered with the seat plugged into the accessory plug instead of the non-switched plug.  This was most likely accomplished by the dealer during the pre-delivery phase.  The seat will switch off with the ignition when plugged into the right connector.  It's a simple fix, sometimes you have to search for the other connector, but it's there. ;)

My heated grips are a bit anemic even on the highest setting, and the left one is cooler than the right.  To a bare hand they are warm, but barely noticeable through the winter riding gloves.

The seat on the other hand will roast nuts on the high setting...

I have the same problem with my 07 SEUltra. I am going to take mine in for correction. The only way I feel any heat at all is to turn it up to 6. When I told the dealer about the problem, he showed me a bulletin on heated hand grips. It seems Harley is having problems with most of thier heated grips. They have a "improved" heated grip part number for most, but not for the 07 SEUltra. I was unhappy to learn that the grips in the 07 are different than 08, they just look the same. I figure it will be a problem down the road. A one year part.

Good luck

mine fried right before Daytona BW, needed them on the ride home!  Dealer replaced them not hotter than a brides breath.   My seat worked fine, now running with the air seat...extra sweet highly recommend for the long runs.    I was surprised that it took over a week to get the grips in from the MC.   Sounds like a problem child for HD.

I thought the only things on a bike that were supposed to be hot were the engine, the pipes, and the back seat rider.   :confused5:

Hi There,
my grips are very warm all the way up to 6(07) the thicker the gloves the less effective they are but leather gloves are fine.

So far perfect. On a cold 40 degree morn ing with windchill at around 32 number 6 and gauntlet gloves was very comfortable. Low setting on the seat usually requires turning it off at some point because my butt is too warm. All in all pleased with the set up especially with my Gerbing jacket plugged in-we did an hour at thos temps on the highway and total comfort. :coolblue:

Mine are just warm to the touch when on 6 (higest setting).  I don't think I'll really use them much, especially with summer coming but I would like them to work properly.  Will be a warranty item next time I take in.  It's very interested to me though how inconsistant the performance is with the responses here, some work, some don't.  Shouldn't they all work the same????

My experience is about the same as Copo the seat gets so warm you have to turn it off or down and the grips work well in mid range thru fairly thick gloves. I don't believe you should have to turn on accessory switch for seat to work. I have an 08 and it's not required.

This was posted someplace here prior...  There is a y connector someplace and if they hook the wrong end to the seat then the accessory switch does not work for the accessory connection (which is always on instead), but the switch works for the seat instead.  It's simple for the dealer to reverse the connections.

Mine are both working fine.
Question though... It sounds like I should NOT need the accessory switch on to use them correct?
On my new one, nothing worked until I flipped it on.
