rode for 6 years here in CA pre-brain-bucket law,   3 weeks ago picked up my FXDFSE & a FF Carbon/Kevlar HD lid. pricey, but if i go down on the f'way, i won't look like a squirrel skid-mark.

I miss the wind in the face, even cold, so I sport a skid lid for puttin' around town, but def no f'way w/out a real helmet.

Me too! :2vrolijk_21:  It's the only helmet that I wear now........all the others sit up on a shelf.  A shattered jaw is what convinced me to go to a flip face....I used to wear the little beannie helmet but that didn't provide much protection for a face plant into the back of a box van.

I was surprised that the vote at the top doesn't provide an option for the flip face helmet since they're so popular, now.

With Terrie riding her own bike again, the Nolan N-102 provides us the opportunity to talk as we ride.  I know that several other couples (where she rides her own bike) her in Nor Cal do the same thing.  Seems to be becoming more popular.  I can't wait for them to come out with a helmet where you can be paired to more than one at a time.

Do they have stereo helmets that could blutooth to your music? I can't hear my music with the full face helmet.   spyder

I wear a 10 Year old German Novelty....with stickers on it...hahaha and my passenger seat wears a ACC Headtrip Carbon Fiber DOT Extended Half helmet (1. Because I carry them in my store and, 2. So that when the cops pull me over I have something they will let me ride away in!) It is so small and light my seat does not even feel it!  :huepfenjump3: I also have a Buell Full face which I think is a Shoei, but I only wore it a few times when I was on my friends Buell....

Spyder, I have the Garmin 2730 (seems to me like you have the same......if my memory is right) GPS with XM.  If I'm riding alone and not paired to her bluetooth, then I run the cable from the GPS/XM straight to my helmet whenver I'm riding by myself.  Of course you can hear it clearly, that way.

nope....I've got the Garmin 550 with the XM......and love the
XM music, but since I started wearing a full coverage helmet, can't hear the music very well.  Do you get Hi Fi type sound when you run the cable to your helmet spkrs?  :-\ spyder

I believe that if you use a dongle with the 550 you can do Bluetooth stereo.

I usually wear a 1/2 because I perfer the unobstructed view and the wind on my face.  On the freeway or in the rain I wear a full.  I don't care to much for rocks or bugs in the face at 70-80mph and riding with a 1/2 in the rain is like having needles thrown at your face.  I've been thinking of getting a DOT approved German style helmet.  Does anyone have some input on these?

I wear a Nolan N-com flip up full face. I really like this helmet. I wore almost full face(including oxygen mask) with skull cap during my flying days in the Air Force.  Got into racing and wore a full face so now it just feels natural with the full face. With the dew rag on it fits nice and snug.

Will be needing some new half helmets before long.  Looking for lighter & leaning toward that kevlar/carbon/aramid material again.

Everyone of the German DOTS I have seen are as big as the spaceballs helmet and catch a lot of wind.  If you have a strong neck you should be able to wear that!  :drink:
