Snow in the forecast for tomorrow.  Thought a lunchtime scoot over nearby Juniper Pass to Echo Lake would be nice while the weather window is open.

This is at Juniper Pass.  The Continental Divide is in the distance.  Moisture on this side will make its way to the Gulf of Mexico...


We're at 11,020ft. here.  An aspen grove in the distance behind the shield patiently waits out winter before putting its clothes of green leaves on...


The road up ahead.  We're not far below timberline here...


Not a bad journey.  Didn't think it would be as cold as it was through this part of the ride.  Figured it would be in the 50's this high, but 40's and a "breeze" greeted the big twin here...


Along the way nice southern exposure is present when looking down at Bear Valley and a slice of the Mt. Evans Wilderness Area on the other side of the road.  Big game in them thar woods...


And Echo Lake below the sister peaks of Mt. Evans is reached!  It literally is still a black and white world here, with more white in the forecast for tomorrow May 1st...


Sweet ride on the RK.  Lunchtime chow at a favorite deli of mine in Idaho Springs.  This town was founded by mining and on a typical morning in 1900, this is how it looked as the ore teams prepared to head out to mines in the surrounding hills...

Amazing pics.  Makes me want to ride the Rockies again.  The western TN, eastern NC area is fun to ride & the roads are fun too but there is nothing like the Rockies for the roads and the views.
