BROKEN rineHARTS
« on: May 15, 2005, 06:50:45 PM »

Is anyone else having problems with their Rinehart pipes cracking or breaking?  At apprx 7K the left pipe cracked at the mounting tap near the transmission. Today at 10K the right muffler broke completely off!

Rineharts technically have only a 90 day warranty, but, they did warranty the cracked pipe at six months.  I'm hoping they will cover this repair also.  If not, I may change to another brand.  I love the sound, looks and performance of the Rineharts, but, I need something more dependable

Glad I had these.  Straight pipe on a 103 is LOUD! [smiley=shocked2.gif]

Do you have excessive engine shaking or something else going on.   This picture is unbelievable!  It makes me worry.   [smiley=confused5.gif]  I've got over 26,000 miles on a set on a SEEG and no problems.   [smiley=nervous.gif]  spyder

Never seen anything like that on Rineharts!  Based upon my experience with that company, a phone call and a follow up email with the pics should resolve the matter.  They have always been great people to deal with.

Bike doesn't appear to have any excess vibration, but, I will ask the dealer to check that when they do the repair.

Wow, that's terrible, Tommy.  I was about a mouse click away from getting a set, but like some with the Hogtunes, I think I may sit on the fence for awhile longer.  At least until I see what the outcome of this is with Rinehart.

After the recent article in American Rider regarding exhaust comparisons.......I don't know why anybody with a 103" motor would buy anything other than a D&D Fat Cat at this point........especially with the history the Rhineharts have in breaking.

Would any of you on the exhaust market hunt care to share your thoughts on this?

Pics of break would seem to indicate excessive torque at the mount.  Any pipe could do this if mounted wrong, as we know Rineharts are no exception.  Wouldn't jump to conclusions on the Rineharts tho, most report no problems.  Still the best pipe I've ever used.  Or heard.

Tony,

Thanks for the information...I considered Rineharts prior to my purchase.  It should be interesting to view the other opinions/experiences out there regarding this product.

I wish you the best in a successful resolution to this matter.

From the voice-mail I got from hd2003 today, Spyder spoke too soon on this one!  I'll let him post the details, but it seems he suffered an exhaust-related breakdown this morning in Myrtle Beach.
