These Big Bore muffler inserts are louder than the RH TD's I had before. Around town or day rides they'd be ok, don't know about long trips. Anyone have experience with the quiet muffler? Any comments welcome

PS, the bike does sound awesome tho  ::)

No problem hitting anywhere. I bolted the headers up loose and attached the muffler and snugged everything up from there making sure the pipes settled into a relaxed no interference position. I did have to loosen the heat shields and make minor adjustments but the pipes overall fitment was good. I am satisfied with the chrome quality and workmanship.

Was looking at skycuse2's ghost pipe, you have any other pictures?

VG, I have the FatCats with quiet baffle on both the SEEG and the SERG.  Nothing but god things to say about the sound, performance, fit or finish on both sets.  Completely pleased with each.

VG, I'll second Don's recommendation.  Have FatCats w/quite baffle on my 110 and totally satisfied with it.  Definitely sounds off but quieter I think that the SE Pro Performance slip-ons I had on my '06 melon.  I do have the ghost pipe, however - just couldn't handle that 'naked' left side.

Standard quiet.  On both bikes. Quiet is a relative thing though.  On the internally stock 95" Road Glide they are very quiet.  Same exhaust on the now 107" SEEG with compression of about 10.25:1 they are quite a bit louder.  Not too loud.  Nowhere near as loud as Rineharts (for a commonly known comparison).  But definitely louder than the other set on the Road Glide.

Ditto, std quiet.  Think that was all they had this time last year - the 'quiet' baffle was pretty new.  Not too loud but definitely sounds good, like a Harley should.  :2vrolijk_21:

I've been running the quiet baffle for about a year..............perfect sound for me. I started with the standard baffle, then put in the quiet after about a week.

I think I will call D&D tommorrow and see if they have any decibel readings for comparison. Then take a shot at another set. I will let you know what they say.

Called D&D yesterday and they do not have any decibel readings for the different muffs. So I opted for the standard quiets based on a couple of your reccomendations. Hopefully they get here before the weekend so I can try them.  :drink:

Leonard did mention that the standard muffs mounting screw is located at a different spot, only a few few inches difference. He said I could drill and tap a new hole in the standard muff that would allow it to be secured in place using the big bore mounting hole.
