Hard to get hot and bothered over a paint scheme haven't seen yet.  Hard to believe it'll ever look better then the 2000 triple red one so bug coveredly setting in the garage tick tick ticking cooling off right now.  2000 and 2001 Road Glides rock.  Will really look forward to seeing what an updated SERG will look and feel like.  It's impossible not to love the one I've got though :2vrolijk_21: .

Colors may be different, but I'm pretty much counting on a direct copy of the 2000/2001 graphics.  If they don't put the eagle on it, folks will be . . . . . well . . . . . . screamin'. ;D

One would like to think they'd know when to leave well enough alone.  When to just copy or tweak success.  I personally think the SEUC's were tamed down variants of the more striking SEEGs though.  They are rarely brave anymore when timid still sells bikes.  So it's hard to expect anything as dramatic as the big birds on the fairings or the rest of the gorgeous SERG paint schemes.

Can't wait to see, that's for sure. :2vrolijk_21:  While a direct copy would be a bit lame, with those classic graphics from the earlier bikes etched in everyone's mind as they anticipate the new model there could be a lot of dissapointment with anything else they try, unless it is somehow just as bold as the original.  Looking forward to the unveiling! :drink:

Being that the '00 was the first year of the "Screamin Eagle", not just CVO, wait until the 10th anniversary to see something dramatic.

The FXR 2's, 3's and 4's were CVO vehicles AJ and they predated the 00 SERG by a few years. You may be correct on the 00 SERG being the 1st model to be designated Screamin Eagle however. We've had numerous discussions on this on other threads. I for one am not sure when the CVO section of H-D came into being. H-D has always produced limited or low production motocycles. The Shovelhead Heritage in Olive and Orange with leather saddlebags and a "pogo stick " buddy seat was such a model. I believe the Shovelhead Sturgis was a CVO as was the Daytona Dyna. Not sure if the Cafe Racer Sportster was a CVO or if CVO existed then. You can call H-D Customer Service and work your way through their effed up automated answering system and get some folks from antiques and restoration on the line who are incredibly nice and know a ton of stuff. I called them last year about an 1984 Wide Glide and they guy spent the better part of an hour shootin the breeze with me- - - - yeah, I don't always bitch about the MoCo. Like everything else in life, there's good and bad there too. Anyway, if someone else reading this post has a more definitive history of the CVO Division of H-D as well as the Screamin Eagle section, I'm all ears.

B B, the article scanned and posted here: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=22663.msg378429#msg378429 from the Spring 1999 edition of "Enthusiast" magazine pretty much says what you just did.  In the article about the then new FXR2 model, they refer to the CVO group in such a way as to sound like it had been around awhile already.  The article then goes on to talk about Harley factory customization, referring to the '71 Super Glide as the "world's first factory-built custom motorcycle."  Perhaps that was the beginning of the CVO group as we know it now. :nixweiss:

Thanks for the link Brian. I will try to print it out on my office Inkjet tomorrow. I think you might be correct on the 71 Superglide being the birth of H-D's CVO group. Most of the bikes that come to mind were after that. The Heritage I mentioned was a 1980 wasn't it ? Was the MooGlide a CVO do you think ? That's a collector bike now from what I hear.

BB, all I am saying is that this was the first "Eagle" and that in '10 they might do something to commemorate that fact.

Hard to know for sure what was "CVO" and what wasn't in those early years.  The MooGlide is probably a pretty good bet, though.  I think Neal should add a MooGlide board.

AJ, The Black/Orange/White model 00 SERG was released first

Sorry if I'm being a dick, but the discussion seems to be wanting veracity and that's what I'm trying to get at.
