Yeah, we are a pretty wild bunch. On the flip side Laconia's Mayor welcomes bikers with open arms even though there are a lot more derelicts than you would have in Myrtle. That does suck!!!

It has more to do with BBW during Memorial Day weekend than it does The Carolina Dealers Association bike week. Myrtle Beach knows that if they try to get rid of BBW, then they will have to fight it out in court with NAACP.

Never knew so many folks were against us.

It's not "us" for the most part, it's the jackass 10% that generally ruin things for the "rest" of us.

Happens with everything, there are folks with no morals, common sense, self discipline or personal pride who should fall prey to natural selection and don't.

Just happened to be back in MBSC on business  the week of  BBW  no wonder the town wants to get rid of the biker rallies  , the BBW was out of control   I have never seen the beach in such disarray  and the police were in their pussy foot mode ..... :o :o :o

There will be a meeting  Wednesday night   June 25, 2008   at  6pm   at the Revolution in Celebrity Square at Broadway at the Beach........MBBike week site is urging any and everyone who will be in the area that night to come out and support CONTINUED Bike Weeks at MBSC.   This meeting will be for input from businesses, and bikers who will be negatively impacted by this treasured event being canceled.      The City Council is set to vote on this agenda in July of 2008.......

LOL  LOL  LOL   Laconia went through many many years of anti-motorcycle, anti-rally sentiment. Then one year the town father's went to Sturgis and invited DALCON Production to run the rally in New Hampshire and all of a sudden Laconia became Bike Week instead of Father's Day weekend and the city coffers filled to bursting with their cut of things.

There is more to the story, but everyone is beating around the bush. The residents are unhappy with the Atlantic Beach Bike Week mostly - which is also known as Black Bike Week and held after the Harley week. The city has been back and forth already with the NAACP in the past on several issues. Here are a few details ......http://naacpblogs.naacp.org/blog/index.php/2008/05/20/separate-and-unequal-treatment-in-myrtle-beach/

I would guess there is racism involved and that the NAACP is bullying an event right out of existence. Both are wrong but in todays day and age oh well. The city / business owners don't want to deal with lawsuits they see on the way - and we as the biker community and our black biker brothers should say see ya - and take our money elsewhere. Towns and cities all over are trying to get their local Bike events to grow. By the the same token, the black biker community - and the sportbike community as a whole should get more involved in the traditional bike events and motorcycle rights activities in general. There is strength in numbers and we have the same concerns.

The old feeling of going to MBBW, is long since past.  It is good though, to go and see "Old Friends."  That said, it just isn't as fulfilling as it used to be.  You simply cannot "turn 'em loose", as in years past.  "The Man", has definitely put a damper on Ol Hub's ability to display "Maudie's", Horsepower.  A$$holes.  Later--HUBBARD

Your ability hasn't changed.
We just have to be more selective of when and where.
