Mystery Connector on Steering Neck
« on: July 01, 2008, 07:25:07 AM »

What is the connector up on the left side of the Steering Neck (2008 CUSE)?  I just noticed it this morning...it appears to be plugged into an endcap attached to the neck.  Is this for the Fender tip Light that we don't have?  It looks like two wire connector.

Could be the Air temp sensor, AKA "rain guage" color of wires will confirm.

Looks like a Royal Blue and a Black.  connector is plugged into a piece that has about a 0.5 inch cube.

Fender tip plug won't be terminated by anything.  The "cube" (is it white?) sounds like the rain gauge sensor.

So..... whatcha workin' on inside the fairing Bill?  Adding anything fun?

Cube is black...nothing fun, was just doing the service stuff and noticed this wired connector to nowhere....looked in my manuals but could not trace it before giving up.

Both of mine are/were white.  Still pretty sure that's what you're seeing though.  Really the only thing in there like you're describing.

If it's the rain gauge sensor the mounting and even the shape are different.  If you unlug it does the air temp gauge go to full deflection one way or the other?

From the picture, I'd say the wire ends inside the fairing but has a need to run back to the rear of the bike or the battery perhaps for direct power, so my giuess would be that it is for an accessory item that you don't have but must be a common enough addition that the wire is part of the standard loom or the bike. Ok, so I'm not saying anything you don't know, but this is how I solve problems and I'm thinking out loud here. By the way, your bike is dirty.
