Nah.  We all know that nice guy Gary would never say stuff like that.  Now, one of Gary's evil triplet brothers, Don or Howie, THEY would say stuff like that.  I'm sure it was one of them. ;D

Just make sure to do good on her next birthday or anniversary.  Maybe both, depending on conditions. :huepfenlol2:

:jalapeno:   :pepper:    now that was funny!!!!!

George...   ".........TY, I just can't wait to get it. The seller is always busy at his job. I was supose to Transfer the $$ today......."

Hey George we don't need to have the "talk" about how to go through the buying process with a private party "talk" do we?  :nixweiss:

How you need to make sure you get a "BILL OF SALE" and how you don't wire into another's account without having a title with your name on it....and that possession is 9/10 of the law.....and etc.....you know that conversation.....lol

OK SO WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO TELL US ALL WHAT YOU HAVE PURCHASED??????

Hello, If you are trying to make me get cold feet about this deal you are doing a good job Tim. Tomorrow I'm going to do a bank transfer for $5,000.00. He will send a fax stating that he recieved the $$. I don't know any other way of doing this transaction unless it is it person. That FXR2 on e-bay that I saw was a rust bucket and wouldn't start.  Well I wonder what recourse a buyer would have after it is purchased? Yeah, he could complain to e-bay but what could they really do about it? Maybe they will suspend the seller for awhile? So the new owner will give a negative feedback? If I bought it on e bay it would be the same. The only way to really buy is to see it in person, Otherwise we are at their mercy.  Believe me, I really don't like doing the deal the way it is being done. :apple: But I dont know anyone that would sign the title over without being paid first. I'm going to do the bank transfer tomorrow. I guess I have to trust him and take his word about the condition of the bike. I have asked him several times and each time he states it's in mint condition. I really don't know what else to do if it's not. Besides, I'm giving him < half. Although it's still alot of money to lose. The bike should be here next saturday and the transaction will be finalized.  So, do you really want to know which one I'm getting? Well it's a 1999, it has the thunder.... wheels, Black seat, 1340cc, and the color is..........................................................................................

It's a 1999 FXR3 Emearld Green.....now how many miles....lol

 :worthless:

Ok here is what you should do, before SENDING or "WIRING" the money to his account have him/her FAX you a ledgible copy of his driver's llicense and a photo copy of the title of the bike....both front and back sides of the title.

Anyone selling a bike will have the title close by.....and a photo copy does nothing other than at least allow you to do two things....it allows you to see the "VIN" number, as  well as the address and name of the person in ownership....the other thing, the TITLE will show you is if there is anyone in title to the bike along with him such as a "bank"...plus you get to see how he took title....with the VIN# you can call Harley Davidson and let them know you are purchasing a bike with this vin # and they can confirm the model and year of the bike....so you have at least some awareness that you are purchasing what you think you are purchasing......

In the spring of 2007 I sold a motorcyle on ebay....the person whom purchased it did wire money into my account but before doing so requested that I fax to him a copy of my driver's license and a faxed copy of my title....I had no problems with such request.....the transaction went smoothly....

The key to these transactions is to keep your conversations very simple and noncomplex and be very consistant if you say you are going to call in 10 minutes call in 10 minutes.....precision creates comfort for both parties.....

In the state of Colorado our department of motor vehicle typically likes to see a Bill of Sale as well, so along with that Title I would also want a "BILL OF SALE" from the Seller made out to me as the purchaser....for the amount the bike was purchased for....

YOU ALSO MUST make sure that the Title is signed by all parties that have ownership of the bike EXACTLY as title is taken....if they use an "initial" then the "initial" must be used in the signature.....if the person is a William S. Smith III then he has to sign William S. Smith "III". IF he leaves OFF the "III" you have an issue.....lol how do I know this because one of my bikes that I purchased had an owner that had taken title with "III" and he didn't sign it with it.....so there I sat in front of the "clerk" to get my bike titled and she says I can't transfer this bike to your name yet as the previous owner hasn't signed his name correctly.....I took the paperwork back to my home....called the owner and asked if he would mind if I added the "III" to his signature....he said it was ok with him, I went back the next day to a "different" clerk and was presented with my "new" title.  SO PAY ATTENTION!!!! is my advice to DETAILS.....

Regards,

Tim

Tim, Again I'd like to "Thank You" for your advise. I wrote a lengthy reply to to and all the guys for their help too. I guess you know the on I got. It was posted earlier  . As usual, that post disappeared.  Again I thank You. I don't  know if it would have egone as smooth as it did without your advice. I think and feel that you should be nominated the "Chairman of the FXR'S".
I hearby request and nominate you as "Chairman of the FXR'S" I hope everyone would second this nomination.  Come on men let's hear it.

Best, George

George.....

You are very kind.....I am glad your negotiations are going smoothly....that's the bottom line....

Actually I really think "RED" (RedFXR2) is the "chairman".....I am simply a contributing editor....laughing.....

"RED" was here when this site was so quiet, I think he was posting things on one day and responding with another screen name the next day into his own threads JUST TO GET THIS CORNER OF CVO HARLEY active....if it weren't for "RED" none of us would be typing much that's for sure....besides....I enjoy looking at his bike each time he responds.....NOW if I could only get him to take a picture of his bike with the front wheel straight....
 :jalapeno:

Ok, now back to your "NEW" 1999 FXR3 Emearld Green....that was a guess based on the "clues" you provided in an above post you made.....so I am NOT actually sure which bike you ended up acquiring.....so fill us in......like how many miles, etc.....all the details.....

Regards,

Tim

Dang.  You figured it out. ;D  Hey, I've seen tumbleweeds blow by the screen when I was logged in to this place.

NOW if I could only get him to take a picture of his bike with the front wheel straight....
 :jalapeno:

Allright, allright.  You gave me something to do tomorrow.

Ok, now back to your "NEW" 1999 FXR3 Emerald Green....that was a guess based on the "clues" you provided in an above post you made.....

I don't know.  I'm thinking he might have gotten a blue one. ;) ;) ;)

So, do you really want to know which one I'm getting? Well it's a 1999, it has the thunder.... wheels, Black seat, 1340cc, and the color is..........................................................................................

Hello,Tim, You, RedFXR2( no known name), 103HunDer(Brian). Elvislee(Blaine), Hoist(Howie) hdfxr3(Dave) are the main stay of these CVO discussions. All of you, and I mean all of you make up a great team, each bouncing off each others Ideas, knowledge, experience and expertise. I have learned so much in such a short time that it makes me feel like a real novice compared to all you guys. You guys keep this site going. It's always exciting to log onto to it. Maybe someday we ll could meet as was mentioned in a previous post. But where was that location? Alabama or Arkansas? Yikes, either place is soooo far.

Well the bank transfer went smoothly, his title and license were legible so we are on the way. Tha bike will be delivered next Saturday. Tim, my next to last post (pg11)Diidn'tsayitwas green. I think you missed reading the entire post, at least the last two words. I guess I'm one of the lucky few. I hope these posts/thread/s continue. It is most interesting .

Best to all,

George
