These pipes have the Rinehart sound. I have Rinehart true duals on my SE Road King and the ones on this Springer sound MUCH better. The Cross-Backs come with two baffles, a 2" for 96 cubic inch and smaller and 2 1/4" baffles for 103 and 110 cubic inch bikes. Of course we put the 2.25 inch baffles in this bike. All I can say is they sound really nice. I rode with a guy yesterday who has this same bike, an '07 model and he has V&H Big Radius pipes. I might be biased but I think the cross-backs sound better but the cross backs are more $. Also, for those who are wondering, I needed a 10 inch over stock for the clutch cable and 8" over stock for brake, idle and throttle cables. Barnett supplied the cables. Barnett uses Goodridge to make the the hydraulic brake and clutch cables.

thanks for the info on the pipes...........i have the exact same bike as yours... my crossbacks are on order and should be in toward the end of this week..... i chose to go with the super sert.........took a chance on the pipes because i have not heard them before.... trusted the name and hoped they would have the Rinehart sound.....

thanks for your opinion....I'm ready to mount them up and make some noise.

Nice bars, but I don't like the routing of your cables and fluid lines. They look awkward and out of place, especially the clutch line. Check out some other pics of apes and cable routing, there are some better options.

Air-Cooled, I see what your saying about the clutch cable. I'm going in to the dealer tomorrow to talk about it. I think it would help to have the fitting that goes into the hydraulic master angled slightly like the original line was. The one they put on drops straight down perpendicular to the grips.

Yep, that is the problem. A line that came straight out then followed the line of the handlebar would look good...sorta the way a cable clutch line would look.

rheiner,

What seat do you have?  I have been looking for a seat from my SSE2 since Jan. and really have not found anything that looks good and gives the passanger much needed padding verses the factory seat.  Your seat is the best I have seen.

My seat is the Sundowner Deep Bucket seat offerred by HD, part no. 51468-06A. This isn't as nice looking as the original seat but it is very comfortable, lots of padding, especially for a passenger.

those pipes look absolutely fantastic on your springer.  how low is that lower pipe sitting, from the angles of the pictures its hard to tell how much clearance you have.  any danger of scraping as far as you can tell?

I had a sundowner seat on my bike for about 1 minute!  literally!

it was soooooo ugly I couldn't stand to leave it on there and let anyone see it on the bike. :nervous:

I sold it and bought a Mustang Vintage seat, looks MUCH better and is just as comfortable.. :2vrolijk_21:

Tom,
You were the inspiration to get me to put on the Rinehart cross-backs and go with staggered chrome. I love the Rinehart sound but when i saw them on your bike I had to have a pair. Thanks. What does the mustang seat cost and where can I get one?
