We took a little tour of the seawall/beach.  An incident occured that shut us down for a bit, to be discussed in another part of this forum...but we resumed our merryment shortly after.

Finishing off the evening at the famous Willie G's.  There we rambled on about gas prices, to the glasses that we tried to shape into the UK, and Ireland.  Too fun.

This morning I believe they were racing the thunderstorms  across the Bolivar ferry.   Ride Safe. :2vrolijk_21:

In order left to right.  Me, my wife Sheryl, Jan, and Nige.

Hi everyone,

A request earlier in the forum message, 'introduce ourselves'.  I'm Mick Ingledew a freind of Nige, Jan, Mel and Eileen, enjoying a terrific venture in your beautiful continent.  Nige and myself are Primary Officers for the Geordie Chapter HOG, Newcastle upon Tyne, England, near to the birth place of George Washington.
Together with his SPOT locator and everyones messages has certainly made this a vacation to remember.  Many of our Chapter members have ridden the US of A, but with modern technology and communication aids, adds to the enjoyment.

Nige did say the Guiness was on him and Mel on their return,

Take care and ride safe,

I wish I was.  It's my mate's 'Nige & Jans USA Pick up Ride' thread I'm following.

Is that a Road Glide your riding.  Saw one in Las Vegas, and went ot order back in UK, but not on European market yet, so will stick with my Street Glide.

Take care and ride safe

OK - we've just arrived in Lafayette after an unexpectedly dry ride. Plenty of water on the roads , but it must have fallen just before we rode through. The roads are getting much busier as we head towards New Orleans with loads of "Semi's" blatting along the road at up to 80mph - gotta watch those boys or they'll wipe you off the road like a fly hittin a windscreen!

We had an eventful night with Scot and Sheryl last night in Galveston, but I'll leave that story for Scot to tell in the appropriate section of the Forum. We finished the night in fine style at the appropriately named Willie G's bar and managed to consume a large quantity of Jim Beam and Jack Daniels. Cheers to Scot and Sheryl for taking the time to come and see us - it was greatly appreciated and thanks for posting dem der pics Scot.

5,600 miles on the clock now and another State to add to the list, namely Louisiana. (Sorry Bungy for the slip up with Alberta but I'm sure that everyone who is reading this thread is intelligent enough to know that Alberta is in Canada  ::)

It's good to see some felllow Geordie Chapter members following the thread - translations are as follows:-

Cheeky git = most of the long standing members of the CVO Forum  :o
Feckers = Similar word but slightly different spelling also applicable as above.

Hi Mick - glad you found the site. Hope you are enjoying following us with the aid of SPOT.

Nige and Jan better get home quick just to "dry out."  :beerchug: :stars:

and to get some bigger pairs of strides!  :o

The ride down through Texas via Del Rio and the Amistead reservoir was great - high desert which was unseasonably green due to the recent localised rains. We ran through clouds of butterflies and insects which pebbledashed the bikes into a multitude of greens, browns, yellows and reds - messy! Totally empty roads for over 200 miles with sweeping bends and great backdrops to look at - unreal is the word.

San Antonio is a really cool town to visit - the Riverwalk is one of the liveliest and best kept areas of the City. Well reccommended for anyone who gets the chance to visit.

We're off to New Orleans tomorrow and will hopefully meet up there with Bayoubiker for some good ole Cajun hosp-it-al-it-tee along with some brewskis and hopefully a good jazz and blues bar.

Catch y'all soon for the next instalment.

Great pics Craig - had a really great night and a perfect ride out the next day. Smoked Pork plus all the trimmings was a real treat and the Knob Creek went down a storm - not too sure about it the following morning though. CVO hospitality at its very best, great big stonkin thanks to you and Vicky for looking after us.

It was great to see you both and the meal and company were first class. A pity not more people could have been there but a great CVO night out never the less.

Weather was great where we were, shame you couldn't make it.

Wasn't bad at all - the coldest we have been was over the top of Beartooth - Rocky Mountain National Park was positively balmy compared to that.

Hi Dave - yes we saw Johnny & Dot and most of the crew who were riding with in Deadwood. Johnny took me and Jan plus Brian and Jill out to the Badlands on the Saturday and then over to a place called Bear Park USA. It was a great days riding and you sure understand why the Badlands were named the way they were after you have been there.

Can't do too much about the pictures as I have nowhere to download them too so that I can upload them. That will be a big job when I get back.

SPOT seems to be keeping a good few people amused - John Ince was saying we had 400 hits on the Jason Jonas site after only a few days so it must be one heck of a lot more now.

Everyting is still going well and both bikes are running like trains. Over 4,500 miles now through an ever changing country. We have now ridden through snow lined roads and through barren desert where the temperature has been in the hundreds and we have been surrounded by giant Saguaro cactus.

The last two days have seen us riding through Arizona and New Mexico - the sheer scale of these States and the ongoing emptiness have to be seen to be believed.

We met up with Randy Dollar and Debra last night in Tombstone and had a great meal in Tombstone at THe Depot Steakhouse. Plenty of beers  all washed down with some great dollops of laughter - excellent. This morning we met up with Randy and Debra for Breakfast in the Longhorn Saloon in Tombstone and they then treated us to 200 mile of great riding through Arizona. We visited a great bar in Bisbee called The OLde Tymers (not open but they let us in to see all the Biker memorabilia and photos). A visit to Douglas and the ? Hotel to see where the legendary Panch Villa had ridden his horse up the stairs was the last bt one viist of the day. Lunch in Columbus AZ completed our trip and we parted company. The last 80 miles saw us hugging the Mexican border before arriving at our Hotel for the night - THe Camino Real in El Paso.

Huge thanks to Randy and Debra - CVO friends for life!

We also managed a Helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon during our stay there - only one word awesome!

Cheers fer now.

Nige & Jan

Take the chip to Walmart photo center and have pics put on dics. Won't cost to much and will free up space for more pics. There are also many drug store around that do the same thing. Will take about an hour of your time though.

Hi there CVO folks. My names Jon Ince.....another friend of Nige Jan Mel and Eileen. Me and Nige do some big mileage rides back in the UK and with our partners Kim and Jan we rode to the European bike week in Austria in september last year. We have also taken trips to Scotland to sample the finer delights of the region and as many of you guys will attest Nige "likes his tucker (food)"....Saying that Jan likes it hot n spicy as well so you people meeting them in NO makes sure Jan gets it hot hot hot ! Mel and Eileen well what can you say. Mel is a great character and with his bassundo voice a great raconteur and will have you guys fit to bust. Next one of you people to meet up with the travelling foursome maybe one of you nice folks in NO....go up to Mel and ask him what a "Koonsilorrrr" is ! ...You have to say it like it reads "Koooonsilorrr" (Bit of Geordie for you to translate via Mel). Anyway there are many of us back in the UK following Jan n Niges trip. It's been a long time in the planning and all seems to be going like clockwork...a testiment to Nige's organisational skills.
