I'm in the club
« on: August 10, 2008, 03:28:16 PM »

110" leaker as of this morning.  Always knew it was just a matter of when, not if.

11,150 miles plus or minus a few, when she finally began to weep oil from the rear jug.

No point in posting pictures, looks the same as so many others.

Get this, tried to set up the "fix" 10 days ago when she was in for a new rear tire.  Guy said, "No Moco letter, can't do anything for ya.  That's the rules."  I suggested that since the website returned the recall for my VIN, the fact that I was not in possession of a letter telling me what I already knew wasn't all that relevant.  The Moco already knew what they were gonna have to do.  "Well sorry you're just gonna have to wait for your letter."  What if it leaks before then?  "Well that's not likely, is it?"  Right.  Here we are.

One concern, when the same guy actually did punch it up in hte machine today, it came up with the 0905 recall only.  I suggested it might be subject to 0906 as well.  No, that's all it's bringing up.  Since these are the same dopes who think my w......y is dependent on a piece of paper (I never asked him if they'd gotten their letter, which we've all seen) I'm somewhat concerned we're gonna be going back and forth on this for a while.

So my question is, anyone gone through the recall BS on their 07 SERK?  Mine was a later build, June 07 I think.  Which campaign(s) is the bike subject to?  Gaskets only?  The guy today acted like he didn't know anyting about valve guides ... my confidence here is not very high ....

So another question & I'll sit down.  Anyone have the "fix" done in eastern PA / central NJ ?  I don't want to single out my dealer as clueless (yet) but if there are more enlighted shops out there, I think maybe I ought to seek them out now before the headbolts come off ...

thanks
Patrick

Sorry to hear that Patrick. Like you said though, just a matter of time. I punched mine in for chits and giggles. Same thing: 0906: PRD PGM:07/08 CVO 110 GASKETS

In their infinite wisdom, the other program is for the SEUC's only! :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

Not sure I'm convinced the new heads are any better. It's a valve guide thing. Might be better off just having your heads professionally done. Get some good porting and new guides at the same time! And cams, of course! If you're counting on the dealer now under w.....ty, you might not get this from them. Finding a capable one, who'll cooperate and do it right, is the biggest problem. As you're aware, I gave that up a long time ago! Good luck man. Call me if ya need anything. ;)

Thanks Howie.

I didn't buy the ext....d w......y because I figured the 2 grand or whatever was better used in post-w......y upgrades just as you describe anyway.  For Ultras it's a different story with all the electronics which the RK's are obviously devoid of.  Til ya add em one at a time!   :jalapeno:

My plan was if it blows, it's their problem til mid-o9.  Let em fix it.  Next August, if she blows up again, I tear down the 110" and make it bullet-proof while riding the already-bullet proof V-rod.  Maybe buy some throw overs or whatever if I go more than 300 miles and the SERK's still in the hospital.

Can't say I got angry, kind of relieved actually since I have been concerned this was gonna leave me stranded somewhere.  Now we'll see if these guys have a clue (I'm taking the UNDER!  :-\  )

Good luck with it. I hope you find a good guy to do the work. Try to find one here. There's plenty of dealers within a 100 mile radius of you. Would be worth the travel if ya can find a good one! :2vrolijk_21:
