I still do not understand (not a wrench obviously). I have a new SEUC4...I was going to simply put on new slip ons (I like the V&H monster ovals, among others) but this thread indicates it won't do any good unless I pull the cat. converter (which I did not know was even there) from the header pipes. I do not want to eliminate the 2 into 1 into 2. So can someone explain this and my opitons in layman terms??

I'm new to this. dartman and others know way more about it than I do. Here's what I've gathered that has to happen to get our bikes where they should be when we bought them:
1) Drill out the catalytic converter, which is in the main head pipe. Dartman posted this link to a core drilling bit that will do the job:
http://mcgillswarehouse.com/ItemDetails.aspx?ItemID=154120006&IN=SILVERBRAZEDDRILLBIT,14"LX1.6"W,with5segments.
My understanding on what has to happen here is that you drill from where the right muffler connects to the header with the bit toward the engine. This will boar a 1.6" hole in the center of the cat opening the exhaust flow. The cat is 7" long, so you have to drill through the entire thing. This is why we need a long core bit. It is also probably a good idea to mark something on the bit 7" down so you don't drill through the header.
QUESTION: can this be done while the header is on the bike? I assume so, but it will be messy and you must be very careful. Can someone with more experience than me comment on this?
2) You need to open up your stock mufflers either by removing the inner baffle or by replacing them. Fullsac has a nice remove and replace baffle (
http://www.fullsac.com/products.html). It's easy to remove the OEM baffle from your muffler and then install Fullsac's keeping the look of your bike stock. Many slip-on pipes will also fit the stock headers. Search this board for many options...
3) You're going to need a Race Tuner to change the computer programming and probably hire someone with a Dyno that has intimate knowledge of how to program the bike. The Factory program will probably be hosed after completing #1 & #2. I would not run the bike without at least applying a canned HD race tuner map.
All of this just gets us to square one. To get the most out of the engine you're going to need to change the cam, which basically will get fuel/air into the engine and probably do some other stuff that is way over my head.
