Gonna Buy a SEUC in November
« on: August 19, 2008, 10:56:03 AM »

I'm gonna buy a used '07 or '08 SEUC in November and I'm looking for your expert opinions.  The '08's run about $3-$4,000 more (all mileage dependant of course) and other than having the newer model year and paint sceme, is there any other changes that would compel me to pay the extra and get an '08.  Also, what is everyone's (who has one) experience with the leather tour pack, does it hold as much as the hard pack?  I've never had them side by side to compare inside.

I appreciate everyone's feedback in helping me make this decision and look forward to posting some pics when I get her.  Oh, and I look forward to mingling with you guys once I am a "official" CVO owner.

Just in case you're wondering, I sold my Fatboy earlier this year, it was setup for very comfortable 2 up riding for my wife and I.  We want to do some overnight travelling and want all the creature comforts because some of our trips will be weeks, not days.

Thanks in advance!

Good Luck with your search.  I believe the '08 have ABS, not available on the '07.  Other than that, not much different.  I love the Black and Orange on the '07 but prefer the King Tour Pack on the '08.

Have Fun

08's have the ABS, the electric locks on the tour pak/saddle bags, hard tour pak with lights, IDS already on it.  Think those are the main differences.

The king tour pack holds more, but at some point you have to ask yourself how much weight you want back there. I like the looks of the leather tour packs & it keeps me from over packing and that makes Terry happy.

On '08 model (not on the '07):

Electronic throttle contol
TB : 50 mm '08 and 46 mm on '07
Brembo braking system
6 gallon/ 22.7 litre fuel tank
Adjustable fairing mounted air deflectors
seat a little bit higher

You guys are great, I appreciate the feedback so far......a couple of the items on the '08 that would be nice is the electronic throttle control, GPS, remote locks, and the 6 gallon tank.  Also, the recommendation on the production date is interesting, anybody know why the motor is better???

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is IDS....... :P

BTW, I also love the orange/black on the '07, I also like the orange/silver on the '08, but since I'm looking for a low mileage used, I may have to settle for a 2nd or 3rd color choice.

Thanks for your help so far.

IDS – Isolated Drive System.  It’s in the rear wheel sprocket, supposed to smooth out the ride and from what I’ve read on this site, eliminate the gear whine.  Should have been a “product enhancement” for 07’s and was stock on 08’s.  It’s on the HD web site in the parts section, you can check it out there.

On the production dates, think it was after April 9 the “enhancements” were included on the 110” motors so you don’t have to go through the rebuild campaign.

I would like the ABS, 6 gal tank, and key fob operated bag locks BUT having to put up with the paint schemes from 08 and losing the leater TP just don't seem worth it to me.

But as they say different strokes.

Thanks for the further advice.....hopefully in November I'll have some options.  I think I have decided (thanks to your suggestions) the '08 is worth the extra $$$.  The 6 gallon tank, the king tour pack, ABS, and IDS are all options I don't mind paying a little bit more for.

Now I just need November to HURRY UP AND GET HERE!!!!!   :huepfenjump3:

The GPS is as worthless as two buttholes...you'll end up with a Garmin unit on the bars.  Brembo's are a good addition, as is ABS.  Otherwise, it's all about looks and the 110" motor.

An 06 with the 103" gives most of the goodies, and a solid motor.
