Now only the right speaker works when it is plugged in.  Any Ideas???

Hey SERYDER - Did Displacing's suggestions do the business for you?

Seems like he is on the money with those ideas

Cheers

My speakers arrived today, will install them in the next couple of days. I'm going to try to rig up some kind of catch rag/towel for those screws when I drop them (especially screws #6 & #7). Learned the hard way putting on the "Lifter Block Covers" that things will fall and hide from you. :(

If those dorp they drop into the pan below them so its no big deal they arent really gone :)  they are just harder to put in with big hands.  Then all you need is the magnet pen  from Sears to pick them out.  Just have a good light handy.

Harry, anybody ever tell you, you were a genius. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] Well you know I was so excited to install these speakers I forgot to put a rag or some other "catch all" under the bottom two screws as I was re-installing the fairing. So you know what happened....

/me dropped one. :(, and he has a very limited tool box.

So after getting all the other screws loosely installed, having wifey and daughter try to retrieve the lost screw (w/no luck) off to Sears I went. Returned home w/my new $5.00 magnet, retrieved dropped screw and finished the install. :D

Man, theses speakers rock, if it had not been a little chilly out tonight, and I didn't want to go get all "dressed" for the weather I would have loved to put it in the wind and hear how they sound riding. I had to settle for listening to some "Sly and The Family Stone", and "ZZ Tops", Greatest Hits sitting still.

/me  can't wait until he can get in the wind and crank up the tunes.

/me would just like to thank Pez for providing the speakers, and CVOHarley for giving him the courage to step out the box and do the install himself.

I'll have to say that I would never in all my days thought I would have the nerve (you guys no what I really want to insert here  ;) if you don't they start w/"B" end with "LL's"). But I took my shop manuals, and the print out from the two threads about removing the fairing, and went to work. Took me a little longer then it may have some, but the end result is....

/me is jamming his tunes. [smiley=bigok.gif]

Firedood,

Gary now that you have broken your own cherry (congrats) ... hrmm sounds strange .... on a pumpkin sounding even stranger.   Did you manage to get the horn to work last night with the new cover?

Glad you got the speakers in bike.  I bet it was very satisfying to not have to pay the MoCo and accomplish it yourself.

Now the question is ...  [smiley=worthless.gif]   Where are the pictures of the stages of this great effort you put forth, for you to help the other guys on this site that dont have the fortitude you did to try it.

heheh

I'm to frugal to buy a digital camera when I can take that money and buy more chrome and add-ons for my scooter (man has to have his priorities) :D It was very satisfying to have done it myself, had to have a [smiley=drink.gif] after I was done.

As for the horn I didn't get the new cover to work, but like we discussed I believe it to be a "ground short" problem. When I re-installed the stock one it works fine. [smiley=nixweiss.gif] Remember I mentioned to you on the phone how the hole where the horn connects to new cover appeared to be a little larger then stock cover. I think that is the problem and for some reason it is causing the short. I also noticed that there was some paint (?) on the screw on the horn that fits into to this bracket that was peeling, and was thinking I either need to remove more of the paint, or re-apply the paint? Wasn't sure which I should do since the horn will blow fine when loosely mounted, or not mounted in bracket at all. Anyway it was one of those deals where it was getting late, I was getting frustrated and decided to put it off for another day. One thing I know it's not a defective horn, and I didn't mess the horn up trying to put it in the new bracket. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Thanks for trying to help me w/this last night.

Yea man, they rock!!!! Figured since I was selling them already w/o owning a pair that I better get on the wagon and get my own (I talked a buddy of mines into purchasing a pair for his FLHX before I purchased mines). I did get mines installed before him, and he's waiting to hear mines.

Only way I'll be able to get one anytime soon is to stay off here, and I'd rather check myself into a clinic then do that. [smiley=nervous.gif] Whenever I come here I find some new something or other that I just got to have, and I say the camera can wait.

BTW I was wondering how long it would take for someone to get me back with [smiley=worthless.gif] since I don't post many pictures (other then the ones I grab off internet to show parts or something else). You uncovered my hold card now my hand is open for everyone to see.  ;D

I think they all want you to suffer and feel that you're obligated to post the pictures you so often ask for yourself.   I mean its only FAIR that Firedood not be let off the hook so easily.

I know you keep hearing this faint voice saying come to Best Buy daddy and buy me .....  i am the pretty digital camera in the corner ...  heheh
