Wherever you look, remember that our seats use the front tongue and rear thumbscrew tab and not the flip-up bracket that a lot of production FXR's used.

yes, they do use the front tongue.  HOWEVER the FXR4, and I think all the others too, have the hardware welded onto the frames for the flip-up seats.  You can buy the hinge hdw from HD,  I have the part numbers somewhere if somebody needs/wants them.

The cost is about $120 ...........  I have the hardware.  I tried out a Mustang Solo saddle on my FXR4. In order to put that saddle on the bike you have to have the hinge hardware.  I've since returned that Mustang saddle and have the Corbin on the bike  FOREVER !!

If anyone is interested by the way, in the hardware I'll sell it at a nice discount, PM me if you're interested.

Does the hinge setup work on a stock FXR3 seat? If so I'd be interested. I've always liked the FXR hinged seat arrangement! :2vrolijk_21:

I don't know that ...... look at the bottom of your seat.  Look to see if there are any mounting bolt holes in the bottom of the seat. The hardware bolts onto the bottom of the seat. There will be metal inserts in the seat pan to accept the bolts.  On the drivers side the latch will be mounted to the bottom of the seat, on the right side (high side when parked) the hinge is mounted to the bottom of the seat.

on the frame you will see the lugs on the high side for the hinge pin, and on the drivers side you will see the latch lug.

I'm pretty sure that all FXR  frames have this hinge hdw welded onto the frame going back into the mid 1980's

btw, there are no inserts for the hinge hdw on the FXR4 stock seat pan.  The stock seat pan of the FXR4 is cheap molded plastic
