Same thing happened on my last Road King when I put on a PCII.  I was told the light would reset after 50 starts...sure enuff, it quit...look at it as another excuse to ride more. [smiley=laugh.gif]

Does anyone know if the procedure described on the HarleyHog.co.uk website will actually reset the light? You basically perform a sequence using the ignition switch and the speedometer trip reset button.

Ask your dealer!
You probably spent 35K or more there!
So they should tell you!
If they won't then let me know and I can get it from mine!

Just ran the trip odometer reset procedure described on HarleyHog site and it worked like a champ. The code was "Fuel Level Sending Unit low". It cleared. The PC is connected and no errors. May come back later but I'm not sure it had anything to do with the PC?

Osmacat, thanks for that bit of education.  I've never had a trouble code come up......well, except on an old Ultra Classic......it told me that I needed to clean the cassette tape heads.  [smiley=nervous.gif]

In my Harley room in my house, I have pictures of bikes (and trophies, etc.) that I built, from years gone buy.....back to 1970......I think Spyder said it best, in one of his posts "now I just spend money on them to get em to look the way I want them too".  Funny how that changes with age.

Anyway, I don't even change my oil anymore.......I get all my service done at the dealership right on schedule.  And ya know, I ride back and forth across this country, up in to Canada several times, down into Mexico a couple times and since I started riding the baggers and get the service work done at the dealership, I've never had a breakdown on the road.

Now that's an interesting thought, too, that I never really give much thought to before.  Hell, and I thought I was only doing it because I'm getting lazy in my old age........or maybe cause I'm finally at a point in my life when I can finally afford the luxery that I used to only dream about? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  Now I can say........cause it pays too get the service done at the dealership......it's a piece of mind.

Now, having said that, I'm also old enough to know that the very next time I head out of town.........yep, I can expect that first breakdown on a bagger. [smiley=nervous.gif]  Life's rough.

JC, some of us envy you and those others who have shops you trust to do regular and competent work on the bike.  Sometimes I'd like not to have to find the time to do every needling little thing myself.  Just don't trust the shop enough to put it in their hands  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I've read enough on here to totally understand and believe every word.  In the case of some on this site, I'd be just like them and have to drive further for a more reliable shop.  For me, within thirty five miles we have seven dealerships......so competition is strong.  If one doesn't get it right, the customer will move along to the next one.  Fortunately (and I feel very fortunate for this) I've been doing business at Harley Davidson of Sacramento for about twenty two years and I get treated real good there.  At times, I forget that it isn't the same for everybody, everywhere.

I would like to thank you folks for the input Re: Check Engine Light.
I went to the UK website and ran the diagnostics per the instructions. My problem was a P1009
which is an "Incorrect Password EFI" .   I cleared it and hopefully it will not reappear.
Thanks again- If it hadn't been for you guys it would have been going off & on until the bulb burned out!!
Thanks

That's got to be great JC.  Just knowing you don't even have to think about it.  I'd trade several of my sister's prized possessions for a good, reliable, competent, normal expectation of a service experience here.
