OK, flushed the syncrap out with some dino oil today. Put in 3 qts of 20/50 dino, and 2/3 qt of 60wt, for my oil cocktail mix! Bike only got as high as 225 degF and idle oil never dropped below 15 psig. So far this little experiment is doing what we had hoped for. I'll be taking it to ME next Fri for the weekend, and change the oil again on Mon before leaving for MV on Tues. But right now, I'm liking what I see.

There was some discussion also that the syncrap is so slippery that when heated and gets thin, it actually slides thru ball bearings (between bearing and race and the adjacent balls) that the balls don't spin. This supposedly caused flat spots on the balls because they weren't spinning. The oil slides between the ball and race/adjacent balls! More I hear about it, no matter how good the lubricating characteristics are, the more I'm convinced that our antique engines don't need that stuff! Just change the dino oil every 2000 miles instead!!! So, FTS!!!

Hoist!
