Trying to decide on new saddlebags. I have seen both and like each design for different reasons. Would be interested in your input.

Option 1 - Matching painted hard HD bags like the ones in the photo

Option 2 - Matching leather Boss Bags like the ones here - http://www.bossbags.com/images/31Tan$.jpg

Don't just vote, let me know your reasoning. I'm sure many of you have used these products and can keep me from making a poor decision.
Cost is roughly the same by the time I add the Boss Bags accessories.

Hard ones look a little small, the tan ones will require more maintenance and will eventually sag, making your ride look a little saggy as well!

I have always admired the flow of the lines on that bike.  The hard bags seem to carry the lines much better than the leather.  They seem much too square.  The pic is small, though but the hard bag set seems to really jump!

If you have to install bags something I find I'm going to do on my 08 softail custom
then I say leather.

I'm with Dawg on this one.  The little bumblebee hard bags always looked out of place ot me.  There are other leather bag options out there too.  Some I think look a bit better on that bike than the ones you illustrated.  And if I remember correctly all of them required a turn signal relocation.  Speaking just to looks though I like a nice matching brown leather bag on that bike better than the hard bags.

im going to amend this to write it in English..lol

it made sense to me when i wrote it... but now, not so much...

I have a Bagger to haul stuff with if i have that need..therefore i dont have to make this decision with my blade

but if i did leather would be the way to go.....  perhaps explore different leather bag styles in brown....   maybe even something customed up... none of em are cheap but then again..what is....

maybe something alligator bobs ish..  ala Elvis?

I think on your bike the hard painted ones would be the choice I'd make if it were mine.

I would go with hard bags , but I would use stock shaped and if to big length wise I would shorten them. The hard bags in the picture are to rounded for the bike. Look at the shape of the tour pack , much more angular. The bags should match.

i like painted bags better as i have had both,


1)makes bike look more complete
2)they don't sag(u have to spend more $ to make them not sag)
3) you can put small bags inside them and use them for holding stuff  ex. hd soft luggage bags for trips
