Awful piece of meat!

Mine was OK, for a $14 dollar meal.
Had it been a typical 20-25 prime rib dinner it would not have been OK.

What was the warning you received?

First warning:  I ordered medium rare, what I received was gray outside and gray inside.

Second warning:  taste, none!

Third warning: Prepaired horseradish was stale.

Was it midweek?  Most restaurants will slice their prime ribs left over from saturday and sunday and dip them in warm au jus during the week for serving.  That sounds like what you have there.  Unless it's a restaurant known for prime rib that cooks fresh loins each day I'd avoid it Mon-Wed.

Jim, they were special ordered the week before for our event. Ozzie ordered 50 pieces for the dinner, should be nothing but fresh.

If it was cooked wrong,it should have been sent back. Overcooking prime rib defiantly kills the taste.

But like I posted earlier, they were $14 prime rib dinners, and that is what we got.

I will admit, iff'n the North Carolinian's think that is the best they can do with beef, then they should stick to BBQ.

So for $14 you should expect shoe leather ?

I wasn't there, but knowing the CVO crowd, nobody told the restaurant how to price the meal and everybody was polite, cordial and tipped well I'm sure.

Just my opinion, but be it a $5 burger or a $50 steak, if I pay what the house asks, I expect good food in return.

The idea that you should accept bad food because of price is just plain wrong

PS  The idea of sending back something that's overcooked reminds me of Pierre the Carpenter who used to say " gudammit, I cut it three times and it still too short "

Re the meals?  The point was to get together. You folks did the good thing and did that.  We missed out on the fun.  The best meals in MV seem to be Arthurs (but not for a group), the mexican place and always a hit, at least for us, is Joey's Pancake House.

I 2nd what Candy says on J Arthur's and Joey's..    :2vrolijk_21:

"The point was to get together"..  I also agree with that, but if you look at 1/2 of these pictures, there's food involved.    :)

And if you look at my belly and some of the others, it'll back up the above statement.   ;D

Duane,
Next time your planning on being down this way, let me know and I'd be happy to have you sample some of my rosemary smoked prime rib!  It's the "Martha" standard for prime rib.
