I installed the H-D high output horn on my SEEG.  It consists of an additional horn that mounts under the fairing resulting in a loud dual tone (high and low pitch) like a car has.  MUCH better than just the the one horn.

Unfortunately, that is only when they are both working. [smiley=dunce2.gif]  My SEEG has been suffering from horn asthma, also. [smiley=furious.gif]

Never saw that one Brian  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  Just to a quick look at the HD website and must've missed it there too.  You happen to still have what the HD part number is the kit you got?

Also, what is involved in the installation?

I think this link will take you there: 69158-01 High Output Horn for Touring Models

$39.96 + shipping from Hale's will take you all the way. [smiley=beerchug.gif]  As far as the installation, if you can take your outer fairing off, you can install this horn. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Can someone explain why a HIGH OUTPUT HORN should be an option on a motorcycle?  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] [smiley=dunce2.gif]

Thanks Brian.  Guess I just missed it when I looked.  By the looks of the parts in the pic the install can't be anything.  Where's the harness tie in?  Is there something inside the fairing or do you have to route that accessory harness back underneath the tank?

I generally order from Hale's anymore also.  Them or Surdyke.  They've both proved to have quality mail order service and support.  Going to wait until after new product announcements to order anything though.  Hopefully a truly matched oil temp gauge will be available then.  And I'd trade your bike for that AM/FM/WB/XM/CD/MP3 direct replacement radio that I've been hoping for  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

Everything is under the fairing.  It gets power from the cigarette lighter and you have to splice into another harness to tie into the horn circuit.  Except for the splice, it's pretty much plug and play.  (What looks like it could be a plug in for the factory harness is actually the relay.)

Has anyone had this happen yet, the horn sounding like the Aflac duck with your hand around its throat ?? [smiley=nixweiss.gif] It first happened a few weeks ago. On a ride in Reno I hit the horn button only to get a muffled sound. Lasted all day so that night I looked at it thinking I did something wrong in installing the Kuryakyn horn cover. Did'nt find anything wrong and the horn worked fine. Got up in the AM for another ride , horn works fine but then after a hour of riding nothing but a muff sound.  [smiley=confused5.gif] I know I'm not the only one as two weeks ago at Reno Harley I see a guy on a SE Duece showing the tech the same thing. The tech had no idea what could be wrong so I just gave em a couple muff's and told em to call me if they ever figure it out. I think its a heat problem ?? Everynight or AM horn works fine but after riding or in hot weather the duck is back. Any thoughts ??  [smiley=beerchug.gif]

Aflac Duck? Man somethin just aint right!!    [smiley=laugh.gif]   [smiley=confused5.gif]

Porthole

What does the four slots signify?
Are four better than three?
Or five better than four.

Dr. Evil - for the same reason the MoCo gives us seats made from boards, shocks that make a rigid feel good, engine management systems that don't manage to run worth crap, etc., etc.  -  Keeps the profit margins up selling us the stuff that should have been there to start with.  Time for management to give themselves another big bonus!

I guess I was being sarcastic [smiley=laugh.gif].... truly though it would make for a good lawsuit if one of our asmatic horns were to fail to save our a$$es... A good attorney should be able to argue that they (H-D) knew, or should have known, it was insufficient.  I'd certainly add the cost of the HO horn to the MSRP of a bike.  I know were talking HD, but seems ignorant... even for them. This site has another air horn made for Harleys, for those interested.  https://helene.affordablehost.com/~rivco1/store/index.php?id=1

Actually, I want the one pictured below.  Figured I could mount it on the Tour-Pak, but then I would be afraid to touch it off (liable to blow me off the seat).

grc,

Maybe it could be mounted on the front fender as an alternitive to the "fender spear". [smiley=laugh.gif]
