I never, ever believed in extended warranty until my brothers Cadillac Escalade rear air suspension went out. $3,000.00. 6 months later the onboard computer fried.$6,600.00. These are the only 2 things to go wrong on his vehicle after the initial warranty expired. He did buy the extended warranty for around $1,700.00. Saved him almost 8 grand. I decided to buy an additional 5 years of warranty on my 110. It is tranferable onto your next HD should you by another new one & it is also a good selling feature when it comes time to sell.THE MUFFMAN

Screw the extended Warranty.. It is worthless at most dealers the minute you do the slightest mods. My dealer has always been good covering me but not any more. Just recently i was doing an ignition flash on my 2008 and my computer crashed in the middle of the upload. This caused the ignition to loose everything and i needed to take into the dealer to have them revive it on Digital Tech. Now mind you the bike is under warranty. Well i get a call yesterday afternoon and my Sweatheart Dealer tells me they cant cover this under warranty because the ignition has the SERT upgrade. They are charging me one hour shop time.. Well so much for the warranty... Just something to think about

I would think the main reason the dealer was reluctant to cover it, was the failure was a direct result of doing the flash. Not much else to blame it on. I've found in these cases, their hands most times are tied. However, if there's any doubt, my dealer has always stepped up and covered things that were somewhat questionable.

I'm a firm believer in the ESP and wouldn't be without it. I had over $6k in claims on my 00' UC and only paid $660 for the service plan. This time it cost me $1220 on my 09' SEUC for the extra five years including the wheel & tire protection. If I use it once or twice, it's paid for itself. If I never use it at all...I had a perfect scooter for 7 years. Relative to the cost of a CVO, I think it's a minor expense to eliminate a lot of potential exposure. Just my opinion.

All discussion about the extended warranty is either from those looking to buy or those who bought it. How about those of you who did not buy. Any regrets or was it money saved. I would sure like to hear cause I have 90 days to decided and I'm still on the fence.

That's the key.  I am experiencing first hand what that means.

I am not a believer of buying it when the bike is new, as the warranty is about to run out absolutely.

I always thought you could buy an extended warranty up to 2 years of the orignal sale date? IMO if something is defective it will show up within the first year. KB

That's true. and it's only $400 difference but you must purchase BEFORE the originial factory warranty runs out. Talked to Jenni yesterday on that issue. I bought one with My RG, I won't buy one when I pick-up my Ultra Friday>>>

So who, or what, is Jenni S?
Also, is there any other extended warranty insurance available from other than H-D?
My 110 is such a POS I can't imagine going past the 24 month warranty period. Won't buy another first year model from H-D and not ready, quite yet, for a Goldwing.   :huepfenlol2:

All I plan to do to my 09 SERG is remove the cat and install the Fullsac cores. Would that be reason enough for the dealer to deny a claim?

Yep, I never bought an extended warranty for anything I have ever owned and saved mucho $$ over the years.  Never needed it on any motorcycle or car I've ever owned (I am 60 years young).  Save your money and buy a service manual instead.
