I figured I would wait until just before my two years are up on my FLHTCUSE before deciding on a warranty.  I anticipate that I will most likely use it on the road rather than from my home dealer as I ride out of state mostly.

So, my question is:  What is the cost of a seven year warranty from your dealer?  The Seattle dealer is talking $1895 for seven yrs + $150 for tires and wheels, but as I can get the warranty from any dealer, who is charging what?  What about 3rd party warranties.  Anyone have experience with them?

Road Hog,  I just checked and I paid $1695 for the extra 5 years service contract including the wheel & tire coverage from Bumpus H-D in Jackson, TN when I bought my FXSTSSE2 in april 08.  Keep shopping, I sure somebody out there will tell you of a better deal. Good Luck.                                             dlaws01

I shopped around the local dealers and the price was the same, $1715 plus tax, for the seven year extended warranty, really only an extra five years. They did give me the free Christmas gift that H/D is giving away with a $350 purchase of parts and service, a $75 value. I guess that's better than nothing.

All discussion about the extended warranty is either from those looking to buy or those who bought it. How about those of you who did not buy. Any regrets or was it money saved. I would sure like to hear cause I have 90 days to decided and I'm still on the fence.

2 Things.

If you buy the extended it has to be more than 30 DAYS before the original warrantee expires.

2nd. I bought one for my 06 and about 14 months into it I traded in the bike for a new one and I am going to get back around $1600.00 for canceling the 5 yr extended on that bike.

You get a "refund" if you sell the bike and cancel the extended warranty? That's awesome

That is correct. I paid about 1750 for 5 year extension used about 14 months and they tell me I'll get about 1600 back.

Nice to see you guys keeping the insurance companies in business - they are the only industry not looking for a bailout!

I'll keep my money and spend it on tools to do my own wrenching.  I've never broken down on the roadside that I can't fix or a breakdown where the warranty would save me, including all the piss-poor bikes built in the 70s. :soapbox:
